Damn; I remember when Clooney was cool.
OK, Ocean's 12 did suck but come on here man, you're way off on both counts!

Traffic, Sex Lies and Videotape, The Limey, Ocean's 11, Erin Brockovich, hell even Out of Sight and the Solaris remake! You don't consider any of these to be great, fun films? You're nuts Hudson!

And Clooney is STILL cool! I just partied with him in his villa in Italy, and trust me, his was much more fun than yours earlier in the year, I mean come on aside from the BBQ pit you had nothing on him... :cheesy:

Personally, I was never a fan of sex lies and thought solaris was one of the worst films I had ever seen in a theatre.

Clooney is still cool though. I think he just made a couple of bad decisions with soderburgh.

soderburgh definately has talent, but ocean's 12 showed I don't know what: apathy, laziness, or maybe he was pissed off and wanted to say f-you, i'm going to make a crap film.

Or how about just as simple as "The first one was a whole lot of fun and made lots of money, let's try it again and try and bring something new into it" (which has happened uncountable number of times), and then unfortunately it just sucked really bad.

Doesn't make Soderberg a fraud though...

No, I don't believe that. The movie was obviously stupid and bad. Anyone could see that. They knew that before it was released and still released. There is no way could have thought what they had was any good. They released it knowing it was bad. So the question is why?

If the script was written that way, than they never should have accepted it and never ever hired the person who wrote ever again. If it was so bad, but still got a green light, than the director should have done something to improve it along the way.

Even the editing was bad in this film.

In the end, though, who is at fault for approving and releasing crap? This is a genuine question. I'm not being sarcastic and this question is not restricted to Ocean's 12.

Is it the producer? Again, this is a genuine question.

I think theres two reasons this film was released, (despite the fact that anyone who had a brain knew it was bad :cheesy: )

1. They probably spent half there budget on paying the actors to be in this crap! So it would be better just to release it and try to make back some money...

2. They thought with all the eye candy (the actors) all of the die hard fans would see it, not paying any attention to the reviews that knew it was bad.

and I noticed this when the first trailers came out. They never revealed any story...and now i know why...CAUSE THERE WAS NO STORY!!

i agree that this film wasn't the greatest... it did have a lot more potential though and i think that if they were given more time it could have been better (no worse at least). i admit that after the first time seeing it (the only time ive seen a movie on christmas day and the last time too) i was a little confused about when the flashbacks were and such but then after it came out on dvd (i rented it while i was working at blockbuster so i rented it for free) i started to understand it better but still not as good as the original or the original original...

Yeah, this was pretty bad. I was tempted to turn it off , but we used it as an excuse to goof on the movie. How many movie sequels will continue to recycle the same old jokes, and include new lame ones to add insult to injury. This reminds me of the "Get Shorty" sequel.

But other than "The Score" the worst heist movie in recent memory (or DVD memory) was "The Big Hit." That is on my "top 10 worst of all time" list.
