Multiple DVD burn

Has anyone ever used DVD Architect to burn discs simeltaneously? I have two drives and would like to burn two disks at a time, can I and how? Thanks!

Not that I'm aware of. There's only one drop down box to choose a drive, not multiple boxes for multiple drives, nor anything else to check that will enable you to burn to more than one drive at once.

I've never tried it, but it is conceivable that you could open two instances of DVD architect (launch the program from the start menu twice) and then point each one to the same prepare location and then to separate drives. Of course it would have to be prerendered otherwise they would step over each other. So you would have to run at least the prepare process first from one to build the image in the temporary directory, then have each instance of DVD Arch use the same temporary directory but point to separate drives. The fact that the burning process actually occurs within the drives controller means that the computer shouldn't slow too much by having the second one running, but the multiple hits to the same file in the temp location would slow it some. All that to say, it may be possible but it may run a bit slower; however, it should still be faster than running one at a time.

Let us know if it works,
Larry

I'm on DVD 1.0, I tried opening a new instance and it doesn't even recognize the 2nd drive. So I went to Nero just to make sure nothing was wrong with the drive, it's there and working. Just a limitation of DVD architech I guess.

I take that back, it only gave me one option, which I'm hoping is the idle drive. As I started to burn the second disc in the first drive I noticed that there were two drive options. What was throwing me is there is no drive desiganation, both drives are listed exactly the same. So I started a second disc buring, and then went to the second drive and started the third. I'm rendering to a new file so there won't be any conflicts, some other day I'll try burning from the same file. I let you know when the process is complete how it went.

Thanks for running the experiment and then coming back with the results. I suspected that there would be little or no slowdown, but until it was tried I couldn't be for sure. All the activity from the HDD to the DVD Burner should be handled by the drive controllers almost exclusively so there should be very little draw on the CPUs processing.

I have two DVD burners also, so I am excited to hear this works - especially because I will be doing a large duplication run in a couple weeks.

Thanks,
Larry

Way to think outside of the box, Larry. My answer was obviously contained in my nice little box of "nope, sorry, can't be done". :-) Thanks for thinking of a work-around.

I have been using DVDA to burn muliple discs at the same time for quite a while. I was really surprised to be able to burn 2 discs from the same files this way.

I find that there is less of a chance of a problem when, with the first set, I let one disc burn the lead in and move on to burning the tracks before I start the second disc.
