My attention was brought to this forum by Rush from EVS.
I have come across several posts where people talk about how much better their project could have been if they could have used a dolly.
I am not sure if I am infringing on any restrictions by doing this but I wanted to bring your attention to the "Indie Dolly" (which EVS by the way sells as well)

There have been reviews of the system in Digital Camera magazine last year and there will be an article coming out in Millimeter magazine this february.
Basically its a very sturdy portable dollysystem with straight and curved track which folds up and fits in a 38x16x8 carrying bag. It takes between 5 and 10 minutes to set up. I haven't received a single complaint since I have started selling this product instead I have a lot of emails from customers who are more than happy with it.

Unfortunately, the other part of the "I wish I had a Dolly" conversation is:

The Pricing for such items. $799.00? Is that a fact?

Which brings us back to the "I'll make my own" conversation.

I am sorry to hear though that $799.- seems very high to you. I should possibly remind you that compareable products are above the $2000.- mark.
Of course most everybody can build a dolly, but how many have actually succeeded in building a dolly that will allow them to use it on straight track and on curved track! and also on curved and straight combined, I am sure you know that it isn't that easy as it seems; but may be some experienced dollymakers can share their opinion with us.
How many of the homemade dollies are actually foldable and have a quality product custom carrying bag which allows them to be brought on an airplane for example?
The point I am trying to make is that yes you can make a dolly yourself but if you really want to save money you would have to leave a lot of details behind which a lot of people who consider themselves professionals would certainly not want to do without.
Of course I know that when the budget is extremely limited one has to use whatever is available for pretty much ... 0 dollars.

For me it is too much.

But I know for a fact not for all. There are guys/gals on dvxuser that I know are spending top dollar for accessories like this.

I'm probally as independent as it gets! Didn't mean to come off as slight. I meant it when I said it looked great.

I'll have to buy a wheel chair! lol

Wheelchairs are a great thing to have on any low budget set, especially after the no budget jibarm comes crashing down :)
