help - aspect ratios without letterboxing

i use two monitors at home , and for example i was watching a movie i downloaded
w576 by h240, when i full screened the film it filled both my screens, and i was impressed at the effect it has in terms of viewing,
w640 by h480 did the same thing, both 16:9 pictures right ? ok so my question , i tried to change my frame height while rendering so that films that i have made that are renderd with letterboxing can be viewd with out it, and on top of that figure out what the right aspect ratio or the math is, to figure out what wxh settings are correct for similar dual monitor full screen viewing.

i tired my quicktime codecs the divx the mpeg2's etc, im sure there is somthiing im new to here in terms of aspect ratios, basically #1 i want to achieve rendering with out the black bars on top and bottom of my films, for example

the footage i shot is 720 by 480 , with anamorphic lens and slightly cropped for cinematography porposes, so what i edit is 720by380 and continue till im done with my film. how can i render so that there will be no bars on top or bottom? i tried changing the settings before i render but sometimes that just squeezes the image to fit the size of frame i specified while keeping the bars so everything gets, only thing so far to do it correctly is quicktime, when u set the output size it only renders that and nothing else so no bars on top of my picture or botom of it.

does anyone know the math to the above mention aspect ratios that filled both my screens ? I find it hard to customize when working with sony.

The only time i have these issues are when editing within vegas 6.0/7.0

Changing the output size to just use the actual image size (no letterbox) and making sure the Stretch video to fill output frame size (do not letterbox) is checked will do what you want.

For instance, I shoot 16:9 all the time, and render to 480x272 for the web . Quicktime will have no letterbox. WMV will have a teeny tiny letterboxing effect because...well...I don't know why, it just does. (480 and 272 are both divisible by 16, which is what I thought it wanted, but it still doesn't like it.)

All mymath has been trial-and-error, so I can't help there. :(

In The end To assume COMPLETE frame control...
Is to use AF for the final output - especially if its for the web.
The only time i actually finish a project in Vegas now is when the final output will be Mpeg 2, straight to dvd or Or a generic windows codec.
I find that Sony is great for a quick edit but if its a project i need to assume complete control on i always end up on After Effects for the Final render and with good reason... But theres nothing wrong with a little cross application team work (=
