Having Trouble Rendering to Mpeg 2 HD

I want to render a file to Mpeg2 @ hd resolutions. But vegas keeps on giving errors when i choose DEFAULT TEMPLATE and then customise to render progressive. Its only rendering HDV files (which i know are Mpeg2 too) but the media device im planning to load the file onto accepts MPEG2 HD or M2V. It doesnt mention M2T and vegas only wants to render out to M2T. Help please.

It says "Error : Couldnt Create File"

Can you tell me what settings you tried ?

I choose mainconcept mpeg 2.

It takes the default template (project settings) so i went into customise and selected progressive. Results in Error. Change the aspect to 16:9. And Error.

Also in the customise panel it mostly defaults to HDV and if i choose mpeg2... Error.

Mine outputs mpeg-2 files at HDV resolution as .m2t files as well. I don't get error messages and seem to be able to use custom settings. But I wanted to play the rendered file in Windows Media Player 10 and it can't play .m2t files. I see I can select mpeg-2 as the "output type" in the custom template window but that knocks the bit rate way down. Do I need WMP 11?

That was all I did -- change to progressive. Worked fine.

David > Whats the extension of the file you end up with ? .m2t ? Because thats basically HDV right ? (Mpeg 2 transport). What i need is a pure Mpeg 2 at 1280x720 or 1920x1080 but it doesnt do these unless we use cineform codec. It gave me a file using the cineform codec intremediate. And that plays in a windowed manner. I dont know what to do to get a pure MPEG2. Also plz tell me. Mpeg doesnt use a seperate codec right. An avi can use different compression, but i think mpeg is a form of compression by itself and doesnt use codecs ? or am i wrong ?

You mean i can just try and change the m2t file to .mpg ? But you forgot to tell me what the extension of your resulting file is ?
