Go to first un read post - not an option anymore?

I'm probably missing something but there used to be a button that sent you to the first un read or the last post in a thread. That doesn't seem to be an option with the new board.

I've been away so I had to go back awase to get a thread I had read a bunch of but I still didn't see a way to go to the first unread.

Is this a pref I need to check someplace or am I just an idiot?
 
OK I will answer my self, in part anyway.

So I do see where you can go to the last post where it says who posted last. This makes some sense. Though I liked it better at the end of the pages list. That is I think the way it was?? May have been another list. Either way it doesn't make that much difference.

I also saw that once your in a thread there is a way to go to the first unread.
This used to be doable from the thread list (and I hope there is a pref that will turn it on again). Having to go into a thread and then go to the first new post is kind of a pain. Well for me anyway so it's just IMHO.

Also, and again I'm probably missing something or need to check a preference, but I don't see an indicator that there are unread posts in a thread.

I will say why this is an issue for me and maybe it makes sense?

I'm mostly answering questions. Every once in awhile I have a question but mostly I'm going to specialized forums for that. If I have a ProTools question I'm going to go to the DUC, etc.

Anyway I log in directly to the sound forum, the only area where I know quite a bit, and scan through posts to see if any are things I may have an answer to and are maybe things I'm just plain interested in.
If it's a thread I have al ready participated in then I (old style) could see that there were some posts I had not seen and go directly to the first one.

It appears now that I can no longer tell what I have read and can't go to the last post with out first opening the thread. If that is the case it's then it's a serious impediment to participation since one could spend a lot of time just to find out that there is nothing new to read.

That's my reasoning and I'm guessing it's a pref I need to check or I'm missing something obvious.
 
OK either something changed (thank you) or it had something to do with my not being around awhile, or maybe just a browser glitch on my side???

Anyway the the little indicator that shows that there are unread messages and lets you go to the first new post is now there.

So thank you if something changed and apologies if it was a glitch on my end.
 
I didn't change anything. maybe a temp glitch, or something changed with the latest software upgrade to vb, but....

if i'm understanding you, those little arrows you see in the last post bits are typically what you are looking for (go to last unread post)

EDIT: did have some style issues when trying to update the mobile style last week that screwed up some of the default files dealing with styles in vb... maybe just a caching issue on your part as a result of that (now that i think about it, if you were away since before that happened, and are just making it back, that is probably what it was)
 
Well it's all good now so thanks.

I haven't checked in in around a week or so because of work so that may well be a factor.
