Fujifilm X-T4 camera rumored specifications : 6k60p video and 10-bit internal

Very cool!

Things just keep getting better for the Fuji ecosystem. I just yesterday got electronic remote focus control working with my X-T3 on the Ronin-S (which is a huge deal for that combo). I’ve got a PL-mount Speedbooster which works a treat with my new full-frame Sigma Cine primes

And I’m particularly excited to see Tokina, Viltrox and Sigma deliver their full ranges of fast f/1.4 x-mount primes, with fast, silent AF motors.

Lots of great developments. From a camera that I assumed would only ever serve me (video-wise), as a cheap gimbal-mounted b-cam, it’s developed into an increasingly more useful tool.

Things do seem to keep getting better at Fujifilm. Apparently the GFX 100 is getting ProRes Raw video:

www.fujirumors.com/fujifilm-gfx100-...ate-soon-and-unclear-if-x-t4-will-get-it-too/

So medium format ProRes Raw video will be something that's affordable to a lot more people.
There is no mention if it will be internal or external but the assumption is it will be external to an Atomos.
The dynamic range on the GFX 100 is insane but in video it's crippled using 10 bit F-Log that is not really using the full capabilities of that sensor.
In the stills world, there's only a few even larger sensor MF cameras that have better DR.
I wonder how much of that DR could possibly be retained in ProRes Raw and at what bit depth it would be.
I doubt it would be the full 16 Bit read out but still an improvement over 10 bit F-Log.

The hope is it will trickle down to the X-T4 and possibly the X-T3 but may not happen due to the X-Trans filter array.
That would require either some initial demosaic internally so not fully RAW, or for Atomos and Apple to add X-Trans de-mosaic on their end.
My guess is that's not likely but there are some people who are always hopeful.

Nope. And I called them on it.

It’s such lunacy.

What I don’t get, is why they can’t just make little vertical grips for the cameras, that incorporate some basic video I/O (an SDI port and a DC-input for external batteries would absolutely suffice).

Didn’t Panasonic do something like that for the GH5?

Panasonic's was the infamous YAGH.

Sony has one for power. Also has a separate nice audio box.

Canon doesn't have anything similar for their DSLRs/mirrorless' (but on a related note did make the cool ND filter/adapter for the RF cams).

The new grip for the X-T4 has a headphone jack...which should be on the body.

All of these stills divisions have a similar approach; they will sometimes think outside the box here & there for various accessories, but it's just not worth the time and money to build a module with SDIs/etc. for the 10 people who will use it.

And the battery grips for most of these cameras will provide you 3-4 hours of power so it's plenty for most.

I always said that if we really wanted to see something different then third-parties would have to build it. Like with RED cameras. But those accessories cost more than almost all of these mirrorless'/DSLRs.

FWIW, just bought three more X-T3s for multi camera live streaming.
Hint: Amazon Open Box in Silver (I hate the silver but WTH?) as low as $899.00 if you hunt. Came with box and all accessories, just perhaps turned on and fired up once.
Considering "New" ones are still $1,200.00 on sale, I feel like I scored!

Perhaps more importantly - why won’t they put holes for locating pins, or a second 1/4-20” threaded hole on the bottom of these cameras so that they can actually be secured to a tripod?!

It’s just as much of an issue for stills as it is for video.
