Edius Export Advice Needed

I must admit, it had been ages I used Edius (ver. 4.61) last......but I have a lot of DVCam tapes I want to edit now.
First problem: I have a Sony DSR 11 Deck, when I connect it to my Mac, it keeps on stopping the capture.
On my PC and in Edius it works very well.
So cranked up my old Edius and started to Capture.... ohh only export option I can see is .avi.
I will need something smaller than that.
And prefer to do the final edit and color correction in FCP7.
None of the programs I tried can read/open the avi file.
I don't want to invest into any upgrade of Edius, because I want to use it only for those tapes.
I have Procoder 3, but when I try to open it, it crashes and reboot the whole computer (XP).
Any way to convert the avi to something loss less?
And an other question: in case I do the trimming/color correcting in Edius, can I export trimmed clips individually?
Thank you

Well I am on Edius 5.51 so it should be similar. You need to "Print to File" to a codec that FCP7 understands. I would think that Quicktime would be the logical choice. For more help you might want to try the Edius Forum.

Thank you Mark, I was able to find my way back into the Edius Forum.
Anton suggested something very helpful.
I copy paste it here in case you are looking for a solution too.
DVCAM = DV

so capture to Canopus DV via firewire

then export to DV, ticking the MSDV option (http://www.videoproductions.com.au/edius6/MSDV.png), MSDV files work perfect in FCP
