DVD burner recommendations?

[rocketguy2]

Can anyone recommend a good internal DVD burner for PC? The NEC 2500 in my Dell Dimension 8300 is conking out. Most everyone I've seen is dual layer; I assume I can also use single layer media in these? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary

This burner is amazing. I bought 16x verbatim DVD+r discs and burn them at 8x with 2 max PI/PO errors (a test to see how accurate the disc reading is, less than 3 max is awesome.)

I hear BenQ makes the best drives, but they are hard to find. Lite-On is a good compromise between availibility, price, and quality. (they are second best)

Do more research at cdfreaks.com if you have 10-20 hours or so of research time.

Also remember DVD media makes a big difference in burn quality, some recordable DVDs are more compatible in some drives than others.
