Can't wrap this head... Scroll thru color...

I'm trying to scroll a text layer from bottom to top... dates actually --- as a year passes thru a certain point I want it to change colors. I tried adding a solid color and then tried composite modes on the color, but it won't work... or won't work as much as my brain can make it work.

Any ideas on how best to do this???

are you wanting it to change color gradualy as it rises? if so, make a layer and just use the Ramp, make the bottom white and the top red and set the blending mode to multiply.

Or, use the Hue and saturation set to Colorize and keyframe the Saturation.

You can always put the solid underneath and create a track matte of the text.

You could also use an Adjustment on top using a "fil" effect and mask the area of the Adjustment layer.

You could also add, perhaps, a glow using this method.

Yeah -- I fixed it... I had the solid ABOVE the text... below works great.
