Artifacts after rendering 24p avi in AE?

I captured a 24p Standard clip in vegas and I imported the captured file into AE. When rendering as an avi artifacts like weird checkerboard patterns appear over parts of the video. Why is this happening and how can I use my 24p clips in AE compositions without this problem occuring? thanks!

I am not totally sure about the checkerboard patterns, but a few things you can try would be to make sure you are exporting the footage at the highest quality. AE will default to lower quality for your layers unless you specify, this cuts down on time while you are working on your composition. You also may want to double check the codec you are using for your export, and make sure you have all your settings correct.

What should the settings be? For the composition and the interpretation of the footage? what framerate should i be rendering at?

Well im just running test sequences. im planning on shooting 24pa though. but i would like to know the procedure for standard and advanced. thanks
