My burner had been working just fine for the last year or so, until the other day. I'm finishing up a project, and burning all the files to DVD for the client. I get to my last DVD and still need several more for all the clips, so it's off to CompUSA for store closing discounts. All they had in printable disks were Memorex 16x, so I grabbed a stack. Out of the first 10, like 4 failed. Then it would throw up an error saying the disk was unwriteable and to use a +R disk. Now it didn't seem to mind the first 10, why now?
Anyways, I tried to do a driver/firmware upgrade, and had little luck. Sony doesn't even list the drive anymore. Come to find out the drive is a rebadged Liteon, and nobody seems to want to support it anymore. After many hours, I find the firmware, and the Liteon flashing app. After flashing, there is no change, and Nero still says it is BYS1, not updated to BYS3. Is there a way to get this drive working right, or should I just get my hammer out?
