1080P on DVD?

I just bought some lens fx overlays and they arrived on DVD as .mov 1080 files. They are advertised as 1080p, but can DVD deliver true 1080p?

Have you looked at it? I am guessing it is video files burned or pressed as data to the disk. Not like a movie you pop in your dvd player. So yea, if it is data files written to the disk there should be no reason they are not 1080p.
 
Yes it is, I haven't used DVD's for a long time and when I did it primarily to master and SD dvd for desktop players. Wasn't sure if HD quality would be affected since they are on DVD, but they did record them as data files,
 
A DVD is just a storage medium. It can contain any files you can store on your computer.

A DVD PLAYER can only play certain files. But a DVD itself can contain anything. It's no different from a hard drive or a thumb drive.
 
I seem to remember avchd files on a dvd will play 1080 on a blu ray player but not on a dvd player. Otherwise a computer is necessary.
