Something else to think about. Since we can get Quad SDI, but we hate having 4 wires to the Odyssey... this may help put it all into 1x6G signal. If it works, we can internally install it in the F35, maybe by removing the top dock, and powering it from the dock. Re-route the wire to Genlock in...
Quad 4? Well, you could use something that most of us own... an Odyssey 7Q/+ they have quad input. Look at the image.
Note: 444 12 bit isn't supported from the IF Box rear output. If you neeeeed 12 bit 444 50p.... look elsewhere or buy an extra IF box... IMO, true RGB out of the sensor in...
As some of you know I am developing and configuring a Controller Board that will give us Quad SDI and Trigger REC for the F35, but I need to carry one last experiment. I would need to borrow a CAF101 and Optical Connection for a quick test. If I can't borrow, I would like to know if someone...
DJI Ronin 1 did the job for us. No IF box, battery belt with power to Lemo. Heavy but doable. Had to hold it above shoulders for a few takes. Quite the workout. Shots came out smooth. Director was happy.
Folks, feel free to post grabs or videos of work you have done with the F35. PLEASE: keep it to more completed projects, than just camera tests here.
Trying to organize there by year of submission to the forum. Doesn't matter when you shot it, but at least it will keep everything together for...
I know we all talk about dynamic range... I went ahead and shot a white poly and went from pure white down the scale... 15 stops.
Download below. Shot on slog sgamut 450 'base' iso.
If we don't count black and pure white, we do have detail in 14 stops where detail can be recovered from them...
So a while back I did some tests and I received questions here and on my Vimeo about sharpness. The shots had different level of detail but it was a focusing issue. I have done a very simple test to clear this issue out. Soundtrack from Se7en. Coz otherwise I’d fall asleep looking at these...
Shot this in 2018.
Had some fun with some talented kids.
Had a little less fun carrying the F35... but heck. It's always worth it. I have now a much lighter shoulder setup and battery option for shooting in 422 that I will share with you guys on another post.
ProRes 10bit 442 on BM Video Assist.
I am looking for a top plate to which the handle (I have) attaches. Sony has them in Japan, and they are $160... but take about 4 weeks to arrive. So I thought maybe someone here has a spare one they want to sell. Does anyone have one?
Had a funny exchange with a great (young) DP who rented my camera. Found a hot pixel. Asked him if he had done a Black Balance. He said he did during camera prep before the shoot. I told him, better to do it a few minutes after you start the camera every day you shoot.
Here is his response...
I check on waveform on my PiXE5 and I am getting full values. I have tried Odysseys before where they are capped at 100 (assume a firmware issue) but never saw them capped at only 104. All of Sony's documentation says HG 3, 4, 7, 8 uses 109% for superwhite. How are you going about testing that...
I feel like my PL mount needs to be adjusted for infinity and I am looking for steps on how to perform this.
What lens to use? I have primes.
Best way to go about it?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Here is my personal test using dhessel workflow and CST.
I find that CST gives more accurate color reproduction - more neutral and more difference in brick walls as they are in reality (possibly because it gives me control over color input sgamut) and it also seems more controlled in the...
Great to hear! Should work on the F35.
In order to toggle the menus on/off make sure to customize this screen on your side panel. Then you will have full access to your camera settings and where to have them on/off.
Well, I think it is... still experimenting.
I have 2 options:
1. Drill the IFBOX on the 'clean' left side and insert the three SDI outs out of the Multiplexer - That would give me 2x3G SDI outs and 1 HD SDI out. I would also leave the original 2 HDSDI outs intact. BUT, I think I would have to...
