Have to address a few points. One above for starters - what was this taken from?
I chose not to put out any images I shot because I felt there was a lens alignment issue that was causing the left side of the image to soften. I've since confirmed this was actually the case.
But I can confirm...
The light in itself is probably most of the issue. Im not a huge fan of the AS7 for skin tones - don't get me wrong, I think it does a lot of things well outside its size and cost.
I took the original clip into Resolve and applied about 6 corrections in about 3 minutes. No power windows...
Ive just had a prerelease engineering version of the DVX200 for a couple of days. May be well worth a look for those still with AF100's or GH4's looking at something with a new sensor and everything built right in. I have a first impressions vid coming.
Dawn of the dead? World War Z? Shawn of the dead? Different takes on the same genre. Whats yours? IMO those other two don't belong beside Dawn of the Dead.
Little back story. I was given the opportunity to have my hands on the Varicam35. I had been a little too busy to organise doing a great deal with it, so whilst sitting in an airport post shoot one day I pulled out my notepad and wrote a little script.
Got home organised actors / locations etc...
Much simpler in Australia I think. As long as I am not on private property, I can point my camera wherever I want. (keeping context here and not go into insurance and public liability). This means any footpath (sidewalk).
I was shooting in Sydney a few years back now. It was an off day, so I...

I watched the first piece and it's lear you're lacking in the light controls area. Lots of spill. Also, theres lamps etc ( pracs) in the shots, however you aren't using them. Use them. If they're too bright and no dimmer, wrap ND around the lamps. Motivate you're light a bit more clearly...
I recently shot a short narrative on the VariCam S35 and I'm trialling showing it online through a Facebook event. I would love for whoever could attend to join. It's scheduled for 7PM Friday 10th Aust. Eastern Standard time, however thats when the link will go up, so you can watch after that...
What David said plus space will be a big factor - the further you can get them away from the back wall the better. Due to the fall off and shape, this looks like a skirted overhead balloon.
There's in fact two sources in this image - the overhead and the white box he's on is reflecting a great...

Hi all
Currently putting together a couple of pieces on the varicam and will update this thread as I go along.
Just a teaser to start with (compressed jpeg).
Shot on Varicam S35 / Cooke S4 lenses.
Anything that is a light source within the shot. Lamp / candles etc.
Excluding that Ive drawn up some rough light diagrams and this may not be what I'd use as its entirely based on what you have at hand and also a few grip additions. Some of these I may change on the day based on looking at...
Hi all. Noticed theres a number of threads where people are showing footage or grabs in this section.
If you look above the main forum for f3/f5/f55 here you'll see a section for footage and grabs. Would be grateful if this could be utilised. Makes it much easier for members to find them.
