I recently purchased a tripod listed as a DA 75 4183 Sachtler with a ground spreader online from an actual company and not eBay. Light duty aluminum 75mm bowl tripod from the MiniDV camera era with a ground spreader. It looked better than my unfortunate first purchase of a Neewer LL38, which collapsed with my C100 on it when I was 100 feet away (you will believe a fat man can fly or at least sprint 100 feet). I had heard the Sachtler brand was good and 120 bucks seemed a reasonable stopgap for someone who is just learning. What I got was neither light duty nor aluminum and does not have a 75mm bowl. This thing is a 100mm bowl single stage carbon fiber monster. Doesn't go up very high maybe up to mid chest for me, but it is solid as a rock and the spreader is the best. My research stalled when I didn't see mid level spreader attachments on mine and all of the official photos have those attachment points for the model I thought it was although there is verbiage about a ground spreader only model but no official pictures in their product literature. I called Sachtler to try and confirm what specific part number it is. They were unsure, because it normally has a part number on the spider hub, but I can't find one. They tell me it is 100% real and definitely an older Sachtler production tripod from the late 00s. (Videndum customer support was awesome, spent an hour on the phone with me, and they invited me to come tour their US location since it is close to me.) I love this thing and after a Benro 100mm to 75mm bowl adapter (the only new thing in my kit that cost almost as much as the tripod much to my thrifty annoyance) it is my new favorite thing. The only problem the engineer in me can't get over is not knowing what it's actual rated capacity is, which I am 99% sure of. Videndum told me 99 pounds, and if my kit ever reaches that weight... well that is like worrying about what to wear to the Oscars when I haven't even made a Youtube video. I would still like to know for sure. I am building my rig and this is an unexpected upgrade as I would be lying if I said I spotted that it wasn't what they said it was. My brain wouldn't register it as carbon fiber at first and I kept tapping it and my Neewer over and over and looking super confused when they sounded different. I worked with carbon fiber for years and it was clearly that when it definitely should not be. Plus what gear nerd doesn't love a mystery (I know I sure did or I guess still kind of do), because Videndum only narrowed it down to two (5381 or 5382) since it is older than most college kids. I can't find a picture of a 5381 and no picture of a 5382 doesn't show mid level spreader attachments clear as day. Additional photos available if needed.
TLDR: What tripod is this? I am not sure. See above for excruciating detail.
