John Bertram
My story so far:
As a filmmaker: Have been writing/directing on and off in film & TV (some theater, as well) for 3+ decades now. Lots of indie shorts (mostly comedy/drama; couple of docs); + some corporate & educational. Several stints in TV Variety writing, and episodic directing, including 13 eps of the original Degrassi Jr. High / Degrassi High series. (Full bio at www.minorgem.com)
As an editor: Have cut more hours than I can count since the 1970s, but all on 16mm Steebecks and analog video. Currently getting back into indie filmmaking, and plunging into digital editing with FCP. Finding it daunting but very exciting. Have been attending the Toronto FCP User Group meetings since Fall of 2004. Am hoping its esteemed members, along with the regulars in this august forum, will be able to help me climb the NLE learning curve.
As a Mac user: started with an SE/30 in 1990; fairly Mac literate; comfortable with chunks of Photoshop Elements, but always learning. Currently running Final Cut Studio (including FCP 5.x) on a dual 1.8 G5 PowerMac, with 160 + 250 int drives and 1.5 GB RAM (under OS X 10.4.x).
