I loved playing with tape recorders as a kid, starting with a Fisher Price 826 in the early 80s. When I was 15, I got my first 4-track cassette recorder along with a cheap mic, which forced me to learn by making mistakes... lots and lots of mistakes. The rest, as they say, is history.
