I am in post production on a movie and I want to get it into some festivals, and post it on Atom films and maybe Ifilms. What is the best way to go about it? It is worth watching, but eveyone thinks that about their movie. Should I make 4 x 6 four color process cards to handout, nice website? Any suggestions that works to get in?

I have seen sevevral DVD like Raduis and Broken and they had great marketing to get therm on the map.

A nice website always helps. The 4x6 thing is a judgement call. Make DVDs if you can afford to. Put the website on the DVD. If you have a copy of the film to get in peoples hands, then you stick with them. The 4x6s spend a lot of time on the floor.
Be selective with your festivals. There are a ton of them out there and many are crap. Look for one that will do it's best for what your film is. Enter the things that will best promote you.

IMHO, unless you are OR know a very good graphic designer, I wouldn't waste your time with flyers. If you can make a flyer or poster than rivals ones you see in regular movie theaters; it might work, IF NOT, then people who see the flyer are going to laugh and throw it on the ground.

Matthew is right about the website. If anything, just having suchandsuch.com and a banner and a click to play movie might work very well if the movie is good. If the movie isn't good, no amount of advertising is going to help it because no one will talk about it. People talked about Broken because it impressed them and you can't beat word of mouth ( Passion of the Christ ).

The bible.

Bear in mind that showing your film on the web will disqualify you for certain festivals.

Is this book useful for shorts or is it aimed at the feature crowd? If it's for features, can you recommend something with specific info for shorts?
