dell 2405fpw $799 get emwhile they're hot!

I have a 19 inch Dell Flat Panel....it is OK, but nothing great. They are a good SIZE for the money but the quality is pretty poor. I use the digital connection too and have a good Nvidia Quadro card on a Dell Precision Workstation and still this Flat panel doesn't look very good. ...it's fine within apps like word or excell.....but Final Cut and Avid the video is not very detailed. I use this only as a secondary monitor.....I view everything on my 21" CRT and 13" SONY monitor. If your working in Photoshop the Dell flat panel "mosiacs" pretty bad. It just doesn't seem to handle detail very well....mine is also set to 32 bit, 1200 x 768.

I just wanted to let everyone know before buying....it's a great deal for the extra screen real estate, but you may be dissapointed if this is your primary screen. ....I feel the apple flat panel monitors are more pricey but look very close to CRT quality.

kikndrummer,

The Dell 2405 is far and away better than any of their 19" models. It's in a whole different class and is actually a superior panel to the one used in the 23" Apple Cinema display. The 2405 is as good as it gets right now for LCD panels... My only two complaints about the 2405 is the lack of HDCP (which most monitors don't have anyway) and it doesn't have a whole lot of adjustment controls to calibrate with.

The new Sony/Samsung 24" uses the same panel (it's a Sony/Samsung panel, but Dell bought exclusive rights to it which have just expired) and it offers a lot more user control over the screen. However, it is more than double the price.

the dell 2405 is amazing - We use it on location and its great - get a very large pelican case for it

i just ordered a refurb 2405 last week for $599. it came yesterday and it's perfect. much nicer than my old lcd and looks better than my 20" apple.....

Applied Visual,

You may be right about the quality difference...I don't have both monitors side by side to compare.....and I wasn't aware of the differences in models....I thought it was just a larger screen at the same quality.

Here's the model I have....it claims to be ultra sharp but it's not as good as I'd like it to be.....there is "mosaicing" in detailed pictures.

I do like the monitor...but I was hoping it would perform just a little better. ...I'm curious to see how nice the 24 inch flat panel does....if it is nice, $800 would be a very good deal!

The Dell 2405 is a world of difference, I promise you. It sucks, doesn't it? But, you really aren't just paying for extra screen real-estate when you jump to the 2405 or the thirty inch... it's a completely different monitor.

I was really tempted to purchase this instead of an actual TV just because it's so damned good, and it's a small widescreen as well! It'd be perfect for video games, movies, television, all of that....

I think I'm holding out for the thirty inch to drop in price a bit, though, before I go ahead and get that one to replace my Samsung CRT.

Great deal, guys! If you can't hold out longer, I'd say go for it!!

Where did you get a deal like that? I see Dell has refurbs for $788 on their website.
