Shoulder support for HVX? Cavision? Suggestions?

I remeber posting this topic a while back, when i first joined. At the time it was for my DVX and i ended up going with the Image 2000 XL1 dual hand-grip support. Im in the process of changing my entire setup, DVX is long gone, hard foam case gone in place for the CineBags production bag, etc...

Basically im looking for a new Shoulder Support. The Image 2000 is not big/long enough for the increased HVX size. I also am finding the bracing and overall support just isnt what im looking for.

Ive been looking around and currently the Cavision Dual Handgrip shoulder support seems to fit my style. Seems to be nicely put together, i like its shrinkable size and the extra mounting options on the shoulder pad are a bonus. The only thing that scares me with the Cavision is quality... Ive heard stories of their products being slightly on the weak side of well-built.

Has anyone tried the Cavision dual handgrip support? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I like a single shoulder support body, one that mimics a cinema camera handgrip layout. I dont like the FULL body suit Varizoom style shoulder supports. Also, it would be great if i could leave it attached to the camera and fit it into the CineBag.

Open to suggestions!

Looks really pro.. but im not really into that style of shoulder support, a bit too bulky for my preference.

Trust me... it works! The HVX200 is even heavier than the DVX100 and you have the ability to use it without using your hands. This is nice to leave them free to make other adjustments on your camera.

Your arms will thank you.

hmmmmm. 700$ tho..... i wanted to buy the new focus head. Ok, lets consider the Varizoom, but is there ANY other competition? Anything close to the Image2000 or Cavision?

How heavy is your camera? I checked out that VZDVRIG you suggested. It sounds good, but the specs say it is for cameras up to 7 lbs. My HVX, with matte box and not yet with the wide angle zoom-through I will get is already 9.5 lbs. Does it handle the extra weight well enough?

I have a DVRigPro (reviewed it a year or so ago for the LAFCPUG site) and find it a very solid piece of gear that allows shoulder support as well as flexible shooting positions. i tested it with a PD150 with Century wide angle lens and large sunshade. Yes, it is bulky but it works.
