This is only my second post. I'm doing the Apple pro tutorial by Diane Waynand, trying to learn FCP while I'm waiting for my HVX to arrive. I've got a dual 2.5 gb G5 w/ 4 gigs of RAM, the big monitor, a LaCie 500 gig external drive and currently I have FCP HD V. 4.5 on the machine awaiting the release of FCP Studio and the arrival of the HVX. The internal is currently set as my scratch drive. I'm a nuggy to pro video, but I have lots of experience with still photography, also I've done a lot of screenwriting.
I'm in chapter two of the tutorial where you're to double click the sequence you've created to open it up in the timeline. No dice. I double click and I get these messages one after the other: 1) codec not found. you may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardward card. Then after ok to that it says: 2) error: out of memory (--such is not possible). Can't go further till I figure this out. I have the thing set up to use DVCPRO HD 1080I60, but it could set it for anything, or nothing. I just want o do the entire tutorial and get on with things. Any assistance would really be appreciated. I've owned the machine and software longer than my right to free support.
I've learned a lot just monitoring this group and hope to contribute something of value as time passes. Your help would sure help.
