Colortran 2k Baby adapter needed for c-stand?

Hi y'all
I just purchased a Colortran 2k Baby. I have several c-stands, Matthews, and light stands that I was hoping to use with it, but it doesn't seem to fit! It has a junior spud on it for a stand, but it seems a tad too small for fit over my c-stand. I though I could use it with a c-stand, or do I need to get a light stand that has a baby pop-up pin, or is there an adapter or extension I need to get for my c-stand? Please help!
:dankk2:

I'm not quite sure what you're asking.

If it has a junior spud then you should use something like a combo stand, otherwise c-stands fit lights with baby mount.

Do I need an adapter/plug to use the 2k on a combo stand? The 2k has a female opening, so I need a plug that fits inside the 2k and goes into the combo stand?

Yea, I don't quite understand your question either. I just looked up the product online and it says it has a Junior Spud... if thats the case with your fixture, then yes, you will need a combo stand, or you could buy a Matthews Jr. Baby Adapter #429301 and put it on your C-stand, should solve the problem.

Ok, now I see the problem, I think. The fixture you bought is rigged for theatrical purposes... ie hanging from a truss via a c-clamp. To put it on a C-stand you should buy a Matthews TVMP adapter model #429492 should be around $15 look it up on B&H.

This board is such an excellent resource! Ten minuted later, and I have the solutions!
Please excuse if my question seemed a bit unclear. I'll try to be more clear, The attachment for my light onto a stand is a circle opening that is a tiny bit too small to fit directly onto a c-stand.
My only question is, how does the Matthews TVMP adapter #429492 lock inside the 2k yolk? After looking at the adapter, what make sure the light fixture stays firm on it, does it just slide on top of the adapter? I am assuming that the top of the adapter, the end with the large bolt fits inside the yolk of the light fixture, so what is there to hold the light onto it? Am I just making everyone more confused?

hmm, if it is a theatrical fixture, the bolt on the TVMP adapter should be able to go through the yolk of the fixture. You simply unscrew the bolt from the adapter, place it through the bracket, and re-attach the adapter on the other side. Once you tighten it down, it will hold tight.

Look at this Picture. See how the bolt goes through the hanging bracket of the fixture... thats what your light should be able to do.

edit: Better, Closer Picture your adapter would fit on just like that bolt is attaching what is most likely a c-clamp.

The Yolk on my light has a junior spud on it. The opening on the spud is just a fraction too small to attach to my c-stand, or any normal light stand for that matter. The top of the Yolk is completely solid and sealed off (ie the hole that runs through the spud is closed off on the other end, the end that is the closest top the light fixture) so I can't use the Matthews TVMP adapter #429492. There is no hole for the bolt to go through on the topside of the yolk. I talked to Visual Products, the place where I got the light from. They said the only option is to either saw off the spud connecter and drill a hole through the middle of the yolk (where the spud connector was), or I have to get a Matthews Combo stand.

I think you might have a weird light. not a bad one, just a weird one. I don't understand how a spud can have hole in it...

Hey, pickup a used combo stand, you'll have no regrets there...

Do you recommend any place online for used stands? Have you used amvona, the cheaper combo light stands? I am not sure on their quality and if they will support a 2k.

For Combo stands, try Modern Studio Equipment in North Hollywood or Norms Studio Equipment in North Hollywood, MUCH cheaper than Matthews.
American Studio Equip (the favorite of LA crews) makes sweet stuff too.
