here is my fiberglass mattebox and my lens adapter..
i am currently using a nikon d focus screen.. but i look around for other options.. this party cup actually works about the same as the focus screen (when cut to size of course)

For the same reason you might prefer to drink soda off of your focus screen rather than drink it out of a high quality cup made for the express purpose of retaining the full flavor of the soda. Then again......why bother with the cup at all? Just drink it out of the can.
 
i dont use the plastic cup.. i use my nikon focusing screen.. it has a little tiny scratch on the top corner tho (new one is in the mail).. but im just looking for alternative solutions for people who dont have access to optical grade focusing screens. i happend to see this cup and thought it looked right so i tried it out to see if it would work.. and it did.. quite well actually. but im still using my nikon focus screen.. until i can afford ground glass from arriflex ($400 i think) right now im working on a rotating groundglass lens adapter that will flip the image.. almost identical to the mini35. with a PL mount for my arri lens
