I Think I'm About To Cry!!!

So I'm editing some footage from a trip a friend and I took and (stupid) downloading a piece of crap MPlayer and, before I put in the DVD mind you, save my project. That damn Mplayer freezes up on me and after deleting that, I find in ALL of my FCP sequences, NO AUDIO PLAYS. I'm mean nothing. I have probably spent about 20 hour editing so I'm sure you can see my frustration. Also (body after the funeral), I set my autosave on every 10 minutes and it hasn't ever worked. IIIII NNEEEDDD HEEEELLLPPP!!!!

put in your os disk and reinstall. don't wipe your hard drive just reinstall the program. It will put back your audio drivers that is what got deleted. Also just use itunes it is the number one player out there for a resone. this happened to my friend on his power book. Reinstalled and woked like a charm.

I actually was gonna use it because I accidentally trashed my DVD player. I re-installed the FCP, it said "upgrade successful," but still didn't work. The levels bounce as if there's audio coming through. Itunes and everything else plays though. Do you know what might have happened. Is there some button or feature I may have turned on/off? Honestly bro, I feel sick; I gotta fix this...Thanks for the help

On the timeline are the little green audio buttons turned on(all the way on the left).

Or if that doesn't help try at the bottom right corner of the timeline, the little speaker button. Click it then all of the buttons should pop up.

Check the path of your audio out in FCP. Sometimes it changes from Internal Speakers to FW. If you aren't monitoring it off your deck you should change it back to internal speakers. If you ARE monitoring the audio off the deck and the video out to an external monitor then you need to set it to Audio Follows Video... or just Audio out FW.

This should do it.

SSSOOOOO WIEEERRRDD! after 2 days of fighting with this crap, miraculously, it started playing audio as if nothing was wrong. Thanks guys.

Oh, and how do you autosave? I turned it on but it never makes copies. Am I not seeing something?

I Saves them in a folder inside the FCP documents folder under autosavevault you need to quit FCP and restart it to get autosave to start working after you set it.

it saves them in whatever folder you specify for the autosave vault when you set your scratch discs. fcp documents is the default location, but it 's all just a matter of setting your scratch discs.

Actually i had this kind of problem before, but with Logic Pro 7 at my school's audio mixing studio. Apparently sometimes there's a conflict between the built in audio. So the solution was to set the FW driver to built in audio, close the application (Logic Pro) and restart the application. Luckily there's nothing wrong with my FCP, but glad that you've managed to getaway with that. :D
