Speilberg confirms Indiana Jones 4

I don't know what you guys think about the original Indiana Jones series but when I watch them (and a number of other certain Spielberg films) I find it surprising the same man who directed Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan also directed that trilogy. They are great movies for what they are, entertaining and fun, family type stuff. However, they were created in a style which worked for the times then, much like Star Wars, but would not pass in the current times. Anyways, Indiana Jones and Star Wars are extremly famous films but are not outstanding quality achiements in the same way as films such as Lawrence of Arabia or Pulp Fiction.
As far as Action/Adventure movies go, I find it pretty hard to beat Raiders. I pull it out from time to time and I couldn't disagree with you more. I definitely feel Raiders DOES stand the test of time. It is just as good a movie today as it was when it was made. I'm not quite as high on Star Wars, having never really been a fan of them, though.

For once I'm not in Hudson's corner.

I like the Junior jokes. And corny as he is i liked Marcus too. Raiders is still the most bad-ass by leaps and bounds (and I'm not just talking about this franchise but in the entire action-adventure genre) but i don't think the franchize was totally demolished by the sequels. (Well i guess if they left it at just Temple) But they didn't. I still throughly enjoy Crusaders.

Raiders is the shizizzle of the monizzle of swashbuckling adventure films. In my top 10 films E V E R !

I enjoy the films (Part 2 and 3) purely on a popcorn level and as source material. I just don't like the level of comedy they took it too. :P

Not only do I feel Raiders of the Lost Ark is a great movie, I think Harrison Ford was an absolutely inspired choice for the part. He is to Indiana Jones as Sean Connery is to James Bond...the one and only.

i agree. i can NOT see Tom Selleck as Indy.....

I always try and imagine Selleck as Indy and just cannot fathom it.

However; as much as COnnery is the Bond Stud (Even in NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN) I have been comletely satisified with each incarnation (D Craig not-withstanding as time will tell ?)

There was talk that the rejected script was about an Area 51 type-concept, and took place during WWII. And then there was the script that Lucas wanted for Crusade, Indiana Jones in a Haunted House... I kid you not...

I'm sorry but I see the name Lucas and the words script and screenplay together in a sentence and that's scary enough.

Haunted House get the heck out of here.

Someone needs to take away Lucas writing privileges. BTW, Spielberg says he is taking a year off from working on anything. That means that pre-production on Indy has been pushed back another year. I have a feeling we will never see this movie made. (Kind of hoping personally).

I had heard Spielberg say that too... and then he said they're prepping Indy 4. So who knows???
