Pro Tools won't work w/ Hyperthreading

Okay. I just picked up an MBox and Pro Tools LE 6.4 for a good price, and now I find out that I won't work on my system because I have a hyperthreading cpu. What gives?

Anyone know if the newer versions of Pro Tools will work on a HT CPU?

These are my system specs:

P4 3.4GHZ HT CPU
1GIG DDR RAM
Windows XP Pro.

Really? Nothing shouldn't work with it. Maybe not utilize it, but not not work. That's well below the application level.

It couldn't believe it either but in the pro tools documentation it says you must "disable hyper threading in the BIOS". However, If you do that, you have to re-install windows i thinks.

I'm really hoping that maybe this is just a problem with the older version i have 6.4... they're upto 7 now i think. I can't seem to find any info on their website though.

You don't have to reinstall windows. I switch hyper-threading on and off all the time.

Really? I didn't know that. I guess I'll have to try it. Why do you turn it on and off all the time?
