Aww dude I feel sorry for you... that looks like a lot of boring photography you have to muddle through.

(in another words I'm jealous as hell and your pictures are stunning, stunning, stunning... you've single-handedly sold me on that Tamron lens)

Thanks Mattin, the Tamron is solid, yet still light as a feather. What kind of cam are you packin!

Man gorgeous images. Care to share your workflow (HDR, etc)? I'm assuming most of your color work is digital manip?

Kp... I don't belong in these threads technically... I'm just commenting to express my appreciation. As for digital... for now... all I have is a G6. I've regretted it since the second week I had it, but I can't sell it until I'm ready to get a DSLR... which will be later this spring.

I've still got a Yashika FXD... with some super-fast glass, autowinder, slave flash, etc. Fully kitted out it looks like a medium format digital back. I've got some great shots with that... hence my comments in the other thread about thinking digi wouldn't surpass film this soon.

I've been through a couple canon 35mm film cams too... but clearly this is the year to get the DSLR. My biggest ***** about cams like the G6 is the shutter lag is just too much to use it on anything that moves... and of course the quality of the images that you are getting can't be touched with it. I have some okay shots from it but I feel it would be stupid to post them in the context of this level of quality.

Hey the pic of the eye... that is red makeup right? I'm looking at the metallic crystals and fine black dot details and that's my conclusion. That's not PS right?

Again thanks for posting this stuff! I always thought I'd get the 70-200 2.8L when I got a DSLR, but like I said... your pics are stunning. What, if anything, would you say is lacking in that lens? As far as I can tell there are no weaknesses! Would a Canon L glass be ANY sharper?

I'm sure you've seen some of the incredible pics from some members... *cough* kai *cough*... but seriously I'd put your stuff up there with the best I've seen. I would expect that you can and do sell your shots pretty easily. The eye is incredible and hypnotic. The shots of the girls speak for themselves... and we all know that saturation sells. That's the saying right? Saturation sells?

Hey Mattin, the pic of the eye is all PS. Her real eye is no where close to that blue, the skin has all been color corrected, as well as the whites of her eyes. I really just wanted to see how far I could push that hot RED before it just turns to hell.

As far as the lens, and I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I think it's better than the Canon equiv. I've used the Canon but I think the color rendition of the Tamron is spot on. Maybe it's just the 5D, I don't know, but the two really work well with eachother.
Thanks for putting me in the ranks of some of your site favs. I'm in the middle of putting together a series of shots all taken on Maui and it's nice to get some reactions from people I don't know. Your friends always love your stuff, but imput from you guys means a lot more to me.

Sir, I assure you you could pull off most if not all the above shots with the G6.

:)

1. I guarantee you that upon blow up the limits would quickly be realized.
2. Keep in mind that what you are seeing on your monitor is a scaled down, 72 dpi, compressed jpg image. How can you make a claim like that by what you see on your monitor. I think most users that view the 5D's images understand the full rez quality vs the percived image quality on your monitor.
3. Theoretically you could "pull off " ANY shot with any cam. What exactly do you mean by " pull off ". Replicate with the same quality? NO WAY, not with the G6 at least.
