Kool. If you are doing flash keep it small. Not much will make me ditch site quicker than waiting for flash to load. People seem to forget there are still a lot of us out here with no access to high speed thanks to living in bfe.

The Yahoo Ads are a nice touch

But serious

Great idea but it has nothing to do with ARCHER ?

MARQUEE maybe ?

Damn Lonearcherfilms John just pointed out the obvious. If you can't take that kind of criticism then I would pack your logo up and get out of film, you will get it allot. So it is better to take it here then to have an exec say to you, I don't get it.
And I'm just pointing out the obvious.

I first coined lone archer films 10 years ago dude.

I had the idea for this logo introduction about a month ago. I thought it would be a sweet idea. Ever heard of artist license?

does burger king have a king in their adverts?

does pizza hut have huts in theirs?

And the fact that you didnt see the ARCHER at the end and in the neons on the marquee...

so do me a favour, and stop being so dang literal. cuz frankly it bores me.

Dude, he was just giving you feedback. No need to be a jerk. It was a cool logo, great job.

Lonearcher ?

You're not going to last long here if you keep up with the attitude towards others (especially me). I gave you my .02 on something you presented to 'us' and you don't like it.

I thought the logo was less than stellar CG. I thought it reminded me of Home Box Office or a Movie Theatre 's presentation when they ask you not talk or litter in the theatre and I found it odd it had zero resemblance to anything Archer related. I find the cheap Yahoo ads a distraction (especially for a filmmaker who wants attention on their work)

I think the name Lone Archer is great and would think one would want to run with that visually as well

Lighten up. Hang out a bit. Welcome. With 20 posts into the fray you seem to already have a chip on your shoulder. This isn't Rottentomatoes nor is it IMDB boards; so please, with sugar. Chill.

Giving me any smack because you don't like my opinion on it is gonna get you an E Ticket out of here.

Dude.

I think Lonearcher just figured out the one guy not to pick a fight with.

You said it.

Geez dude!!!!

A - Don't ask people to look at your stuff if you ONLY want to hear "That's just perfect!"

B - Take a little input or try something none artistic that wont bring input....
Your reaction was at best childish
C - Hudson is the wrong dude to flame. :furious3:

D - It's a nice clip.

I always wondered about that. Can that be a successful ad-campain? I mean we are talking about it here, so it must give them some name recognition if nothing else, but I can't see how it sells burgers.
Darn ads....probably is some darn subliminal stuff going on there....

nice! but, ...you dont think its a little too "Dreamworks" like? I'm sure im not the only one to think it. Its definitely good work youve got there, but in my honest opinion you might want to rethink the content a little to avoid any chatter.

LoneArcher,

First off, I think the intro is great and very sleek looking but there is one thing I think you need to consider before finalizing it; the timing. The whole panning down the theater and to the front marque is great, but it takes a lot of time. This is the only unprofessional element the intro has.

Think of all the big studios and big production companies, none of them have logo intros that are that long in duration. They are usually fast and very brief. In a way, they are not drawing too much attention to themselves. Perhaps if the tracking down to the marque was a little sped up and had some jump cuts or something and we quickly got to the front of the theater and saw the marque, just for a split second and then quick cut to your main logo...

Just my 2 cents. Again, great job on the 3d and logo, but I think if it was three or four times as fast, it'd fit in right there with the big dogs. It's like editing and special effects work; in the end, you've done your job if people don't notice your work and just accept it as being professional.

Just watched the intro a few more times... in regards to the speed and stuff again.. what if there were occasional small lightning bursts and you used those as cuts and would jump ahead by three, four, or five seconds. That'd help get to the marque faster and you already have your big flash there.

K, made it through this thread to read all the hubbub, and then went back & watched the clip.

1st, I can see what John Hudson means by the CG reminding him of when they ask you not to talk, the beginning of a THX sample, etc. ... but, that didn't stop me at all from being TOTALLY impressed by it. This had a different movement than those other things, and just felt right.

However, I personally would have stopped at the front of the sign with your company name on it with a classy fade to black. Otherwise, it feels like a couple of logos stacked on top of each other.

Either of the can stand well on their own (not sure the lightening works near the end, with the classy bronze look of the logo/archer), but I'm not convinced they should go together like that.

Agreed ... also, may be different once there's sound, but I'd get away from that water shot sooner ... it didn't take long for me to say "okay, let's move it along", inside my head as I watched it.

DREAMWORKS!!!!!!!!!! dreamworks logo is in no way the same as mine!!!!!!!

I have a night time ocean which is luminated by the moon...... My logo is the moon with some high cloud cover with my title... the animated title starts off out in the deep ocean and pans up to a darklit sky.....

Dreamworks starts off on water ( not ocean as it is ment to represent a field of dreams ) then you see the boy's float off is rod hit the pond and it pans up quickly to him sitting on the cresent moon then pans right to dreamworks.....then reveals the whole logo....

Because it has clouds in it does not make it the same!

Im glad you think its up to the standard of such a profesinal logo as dreamworks logo though and will take that onboad.

The sound effects and score will set the mood. its very deep with violins and bass drums and starts off silent with the lapping of the ocean water...

I have picked up a lot of negative comments though directed at people who do post around here.... I though the DVX communty was about banding together with out passions which is film making!!!!!! lets encourage more and stop putting people down with cheap shots!!! A lot of time and creative effor is put into the short films and logos and so on and as soon as someone has finnished and has posted for people to have a look at there is always someone to say thats not how id do it, thats too fast, too slow....... Grow up and learn to play well together! As always cridicts never seem to create but critisise the way art is portade to there own liking.... :kali: :(
