Okay, I realise this may be another 0 replies post, but I just saw this movie and all I can say is 'WOW'. I already love Judi Dench and have been a big Hoskins fan, and they sure didnt disappoint in this film. Very very beautiful film, beautiful photography. I loved all the old cars and the clothes, just everything.

The premise is Dench's character finds herself widowed and well off, so she buys an old closed theater, ends up hiring Hoskins character as the production manager and together, put up the first nude revue in London. Starts off a few years before Hitler invades Europe and carries thru to mid-war.

I was by far, the youngest movie-goer there. There was something fantastic in seeing so many people in their 60's - late 70's packing an auditorium to capacity. But something very disturbing about all the 'walking farts' being let go up and down the stairs. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Hope more people get to see this one. I saw it because I wanted to go to the movies and see something different. I had no idea what I was going to see, but I'm glad I took the gamble. :)

haven't seen this yet but i'll probably go see it sometime soon... the only problem i have is that none of my friends wanna see movies like this or The Three Burials of Malquiades Estrada... they wanna see Pink Panther, Running Scared, and Big Momma's House 2... so i have to go see flicks like Mrs. Henderson and Three Burials by myself. I wish my friends would broaden their spectrum of films and not just go see mainstream high grossing movies and go see the little independent features and such. but they think it makes them gay or some **** like that. really pisses me off.

anyway, yeah i'll probably check it out. thanks for the info!

I have the exact same problem, but its really not a problem as I go to movies mostly by myself anyway. I take my daughter with me sometimes, depending on the movie. But if it has a hint of "artsy" or has not been shoved down our throats at every commercial break, or if it doesnt have a screaming soundtrack, most people I know wont go see it.

Too bad, their loss. :)

I do have a point to bicker about on the film...Dench's Mrs Henderson gives a speech towards then end of the movie, that is supposed to be rousing (and kind of is) but in the speech, she explains her reasoning and desire to open the theater in the first place...and the reason was just wierd. To me. But that's jsut me.

:dankk2: for listening.

i want to go see this. when i saw the trailer it looked like a very comical movie. smart humor. i'll see it sometime soon. i still have to see munich, brokeback mountain, capote, among others.
