A monkey sidekick would be perfect!
Momentary Sidebar: How about those CareerBuilder commericals with the chimpanzees...funny stuff. Give him a chimpanzee.

If it is an older Jones...at the end of the Last Crusade, neither him or his father actually drank from the immortality cup, right? I haven't seen it in a while.

They both did... However, the price for immortality was to stay in the chambers like the knight said. Once you crossed the the seal, immortality went bye bye.

I hope they don't get Ford. I don't want to see him as another John Wayne , old, fat , broke down and completely unbelievable.

C'mon... Ford has tons of juice left! Look at Connery. Still cool and older then Ford.

H Ford can/will do an awesome job.

I agree completely. Both Ford and Connery have aged well.

Ford is the man

I'm just afraid it's going to suck like Part 3 did. With Lucas involved, I'm not holding my breath.

Agghh there you go again... If it's anywhere as good as Crusade I'll be happy :Drogar-Love(DBG):

Of course, if it's as good as Raiders, I'll be even happier :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

These smileys are freakin me out

I've been keeping up with this movie for awhile. They are definitely going to have a sidekick.....maybe an older Short Round...oh herrrroooooo.

But seriously, a sidekick is in, Harrison is old (but still aged well), Lucas can't write dialogue and I hear the title is called Indiana Jones: A New Hope.

One rumor i read somewhere said that Chow Yun Fat would play an older Short-Round. I personally think that's too ridiculous to be true.

That can't be true! That would be horrible. It would be hilarious if they could talk Jonathan Ke Quan to reprise the role, maybe as a guest appearance.

I reard that a month or two ago and haven't heard word one on it since so i don't think it is true. However since this next one seems to be set for asia its totally feasible for there to be a short-round return.

I don't know what you guys think about the original Indiana Jones series but when I watch them (and a number of other certain Spielberg films) I find it surprising the same man who directed Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan also directed that trilogy. They are great movies for what they are, entertaining and fun, family type stuff. However, they were created in a style which worked for the times then, much like Star Wars, but would not pass in the current times. Anyways, Indiana Jones and Star Wars are extremly famous films but are not outstanding quality achiements in the same way as films such as Lawrence of Arabia or Pulp Fiction. And don't get me wrong, I'm a die hard Star Wars fan who has flown to Celebration II and III, I feel Spielberg has proven his ability with many films and Lucas has American Graffiti under his belt, along with some incredible stories. So in the end I think there should be no quarrels with these films being remade in a new era of motion pictures, nothing sacred is lost, and lets be thankful it is the original creators making the sequels....I mean Jim Sheridan plans to remake IKIRU, now that may cause some worry.

This is an interesting discussion. I don't think it's fair to say that they wouldn't work in current times. Maybe I'm just holding to the past too hard, but I think if Raiders of the Lost Ark came out today it would still change the world. It's just about the perfect film in my eyes.

You might be on to something about Star Wars though. Esspecially in today's "we've seen it all" attitude. A lot of the mass adoption of Star Wars was because audiences had never seen anything like that on screen before. It would be interesting to see how it played out.

Raiders and Crusades definately stand the test of time. One of the reasons being their heavy reliance on staging live action as opposed to more heavily CGed events. It lends that element of realism other films lack. I can totally see these events as having really happened in the past. I belive in the reality of Indiana Jones and believing in the character adds to my enjoyment.

The pulp adventure style is also a major factor in the films longevity. As long as they manage to keep that feeling then i can forgive an aging Ford cause he is the only Indiana Jones and integral to capturing the magic of the series.

I disagree with the above statement (Kubrick) Raiders and the original Star Wars Trilogy I am sure would stand up and rock the house. It's the sequels that are shite.

Raiders was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Cinematography. If they take it serious like they did Raiders it'll be cool. Unfortunately Temple of Doom's ass kickin 10 year old and Last Crusades bumbling Marcus Brody and 'Junior ? Junior ?!' jokes ruined the franchise
