cheap TV as preview monitor ?

Hi everyone, new member here. Those forums have been helping me a lot with video editing but never had to post anything until today;

I just bought a IMAC G5 2.1 ghz I was wondering if it was possible, VIA the DVI to Composite adapter, to extend the video preview on a cheap tv that has composite input, with final cut pro 5.

thanks for any answer that could help,

- Mathieu

it may be, but what you should do is go out firewire to camera/deck to NTSC monitor. assuming you are trying to get NTSC preview

thanks for the reply, I'll see if my camcorder can input firewire (sony VX1000), should be the easiest way, in fact.

Would be great if my camcorder wouldn't have to be connected when editing though, so is there anyone who knows for the DVI to Composite output ?

thanks

You don't want to use the DVI->Composite Out. Like sink said, if you want a NTSC preview you only getting by going through your deck/camcorder. Otherwise, you're just looking at an extended computer desktop and that defeats the whole purpose of a monitor for CC and editing.
