Anybody here go to Full Sail in Orlando?

I did and I think it was a great school.

Although it had its issues...as many film schools do...I ended up in a pretty good position afterwards. Some of my film school friends are spread out all over the place. L.A., New York, Dallas, Vegas and Orlando to name a few.

I dont know if many of you know about the school or not but it has taken some heat because of it price and some students disliked the experience and have given it bad press.

I also had issues there but as time goes on I have been able to really appreciate my studies there. I am just wondering if there are any F.Sr's in here somewhere.

Thanks,

JB

i'm planning on going to Full Sail in the fall... send me a private message telling me about your problems so i can take that into account before i go there thanks

I did.

1 degree in recording arts, 1 in digital media, and 1/2 in computer animation

I taught there for a few months back in the mid 90s... you can say one thing.. they have GEAR.

Cool. Glad to meet you all.

I graduated in Nov. 2002 from the Film Program...if that wasn't obvious...LOL...

Kai...

How the heck could you afford all those degrees???!!! Dang!!! Good work though man! What projects are you working on now????? Website looks awesome!!! Need any help? LOL...just kidding...I am not doing too badly actually. I kow that is surprising for an Full Sailer to say...;)~

Gregg...

Why did you leave? Another job? In the 90's I heard it was a bit better because it wasn't so crowded.

Long story.. short version, my wife was in a nasty car wreck and during her recovery
it was impossible to freelance. I taught for 6 months for the steady hours/work
before relocating to LA. It was an interesting time.

My brother graduated from there in 2004 with Recording Engineer Degree. I went down there the weekend he graduated and he gave me a tour around the campus. I tell you what they have all the "TOYS" there! If you go to that school and are dedicated and focused on your goals you can come out of there with some serious experience and be on your way to the big time. My bro said the programs there are very intense. He said they cram 4 years of college into 1 or 1.5 years depending on your major. For him, he had classes at odd times during the day or night too. He had a LAB class at 2:00 in the morning and a lecture class at 4am! Talk about trying to stay awake. They want you to get used to working in the real world so they put you in situations like that having you go to class in the middle of the night. I guess when you get your big job and your in the studio or out on a video/film shoot at 3am you can thank the folks at FULL SAIL! LOL!

I do think the school is very over priced. I think for my brother to go there was around $30,000 for a year or something like that. He got a living stipend to which was cool. I am sure the school will argue its overpriced because they have all the cutting edge equipment. I have seen the labs when I was there that have 20 or so Avid and or Final Cut Pro editing systems; sound stage; expensive cameras, and all the other stuff in the Recording arts and video game creation departments...

They send me catalogs and emails all the time...I may still end up going down there at some point but I am already established in what I do. I would go for the MFA program. I think they offer the master of fine arts degree for Film.

I start there this month. It is very expensive but rest assure you get your moneys worth. I went there for a tour and the facilities were amazing. It'd be great to start a DVX group in Orlando.

I am a fullsail grad and the film hours are "bankers hours" compared to everyone else's (RA, Animation, etc) I enjoyed my time there, it has it's drawbacks but every school does. A great overall experience ESPECIALLY if you get involved and WANT to succeed.
