Spiderman 2 is my personal favorite. Blending the physical and situational comedy with the dire superhero vs villian storyline while mantianing a emotional chord for the duration.

So awesome.

Spiderman 2 is terrific action, funny and emotionally moving roller coaster of a movie. It remained true to the spirit of the comic book.

Hated the Batman series, though I may like Batman Begins when I see it.

Superman was a yawner.

I watched Spider-Man 2 last night. First time since seeing it in the theater, which I did only once.

It was a Superbit DVD. The sound was astounding. Beautiful, beautiful mix.

But as for the hoopla over this flick -- the gushing, the gaga -- I don't get it. I mean, the picture was great, maybe too good, because it revealed the cheesy VFX and substandard CGI rendering. If you want to show an example of why all-CGI effects have taken movies to a bad place, just show someone this flick.

And yes, as has been pointed out many times, it was pretty much a remake of Superman II, from the recap of the first movie in the opening credits, to the "my back!" direct reference toward the middle.

To say nothing of it trashing the character of Doc Ock.

Nope. I just don't see it. Why the love?

I think the pacing in Spiderman 2 was excellent. It really took the time to focus on story and characters. And while I agree that I can't STAND over-hyped Hollywood hocus pocus and SFX, they didn't distract me in this movie.

And, in most superhero flicks, there is almost ALWAYS a point in time in the movie when the superhero gets caught by the bad guy and you think, "Oh COME ON!!!..Why can't he just run really fast??? Or, fly away????" And this question is usually not answered. Or, the superhero will do the thing that he should have done 2 hours ago to prevent the bad guy from almost ruling the world in the first place.

Well, Spiderman 2 was good about not ever putting the hero in that predicament. They kept reminding you that he was just a mortal with "special" gifts. They didn't try to put Peter Parker into a situation where the filmmakers had to bail out bad story writing. I LOVE the first Superman. But, come on. Lex opens up a box of Kryptonite and Superman never does what he is capable of doing...like getting the F out of there. He waits until Lex is done monologuing to give him time to wrap the Kryptonite around superman with a chain or whatever he does. It just ticks me the F off.

But thats me-

And yes, whoever said "The Incredibles"...I'm am very close to agreeing with you. That is if I knew this discussion was up for animated hero flicks. I loved Spiderman 2, but I have re-watched the Incredibles about 5 times.

The Incredibles, hands down, is the best superhero film ever. While Spiderman 2 and X2 are both good, they're not even in the same league as The Incredibles when it comes to things like character and story development.

Batman Begins, while a tad pretentious, is my second favorite.

superman and batman begins are both really good commercially and great but there is just that unmistakable and unique character about the original batman that is just really great. Batman for me.

I don't like the comics or the super hero movies. That said, I DID enjoy Batman Begins. I dislike (with the occasional exception) sequels but I find myself actually looking forward to a Batman sequel as long as it is as good as Batman Begins. Okay, I like Unbreakable, too. And I know it wasn't a superhero thing but Sin City, too...

The only thing that keeps Sin City from being a superhero movie is outlandish costumes. I'd say that most of the protagonists in that movie and their capacity for taking and dishing out punishment was pretty darn super.

Ohh and as a long standing comic fan I definately take Batman Begins over Tim Burton's Batman of which I stopped being a fan after reading Frank Miller's Return of the Dark Knight. It became painfully apparent to me how much that movie misses the mark on the Batman mythos.

Outlandish costumes? How about some guy running around in blue tights and red underwear?

I meant the lack of outlandish costumes. Although now that i think about it the girls of Old Town are dressed pretty "outlandishly". So maybe they can be the superheroines of Sin City.

Sin City was a comic before a graphic novel (actually as most graphic novels are) The original arc of the story was released under the Dark Horse publication line Dark Horse Presents They also gave us the original Alien vs. Predator. I don't remember the issue numbers but you can probably google that pretty easily.

And a graphic novel for all intents and purposes is a larger than normal comic. To call Sin City a comic shouldn't be a stigma. (Not to say that anyone here sees it that way.)

NO WAY, spiderman 2 is one of the worst THINGS ever created on screen. BOOOOO TO THAT. I do agree that b begins captured the comic grtty flavour but it just did not have a character about it like superman or burtons batman. So...BURTON IT IS.
Spiderman does not qualify as a film.

2doors, u got some interesting and in my opinion dumb opinions. No offense.
Batman Begins didnt have a character about it????
Ummmm, it was the most developed character of all the superhero films. Burton's Batman had no development.
Spider-man does not qualify as a film?????? Please, explain.
