New Superman Costume

Well they unveiled the new supes outfit.

I uhh, am not sure what to think.....I always liked the huge sheild across the chest like he's not afraid to show it. Here it's a bit small....and I don't like the S on the belt. I do like the color of red, but the blue needs to be darker.

Still in motion and onscreen, this could totally change my mind......I thought the same of green goblins helmet however, and it still sucked.

This isn't bad, but it'll take some getting used to.

The title of this thread scared the hell out of me. I didn't even consider the possibility that they could screw up such a simple costume.

Yeah, the crest is about half the size it should be (remember, Clark wouldn't want people staring at his face too much) and the belt is lame. Also, that red looks desaturated.

On Spiderman, they had different sized spiders for different shots I think. Either that or Raimi was picky about the correct size, can't remember from the DVD features. Let's hope big blue's costume is still in the dev stages.

Yup.......I hope so. With this version I can let it go, but I would definitely like to see a shield that really screams "superman".......not "superboy...maybe.....I'm not sure yet".

Wow, those are some crappy boots. I pretty much agree with all your guys' complaints.

FYI: Raimi was SUPER picky about the correct size of the spider, but they only had one once they got it right.

hmm...yes, the crest is too small. and the boots are kinda...ehh...

also, they are letting his belt line go so low that he looks like hes got short legs...

eh, i dunno...to fix this, they need to...

enlarge the crest
raise the belt line a few inches.
take the boots to just below his knees
also the neck line of the suit is too tight to his neck...they need to let it out a bit...

right now it looks like uptight/dorky superman...not too much super about this outfit...

now this is a crest

Reeves WAS and WILL be Superman... I thinks is the best incarnation of a super-hero of all time. Nobody will look so good like him in a mature way. This one looks too young, and not too much different from Scrappyville (but there´s nothing better to wach, so...).

This is the actual actor, so, really too young... I´m wishing to see Return of dark knight and the best fight i´ve read and seen in my comics life! That would be awesome!

Right on. Dark Knight Returns directed by Robert Rodriguez with Mickey Rourke as Batman. I can just see Batman putting his foot in Superman's chest.

I expected better from Bryan Singer... him being young and all... is this going to just look like a cinematic smallville? dammit.

You bet dvpixl... Just like X-men look so childish, superman will be the same. Probably Singer has being contracted for his ability to make a nice historical product into something children can see and scream wow, dad, buy me the toy!!

Hollywood should make some kind of mature audiences superhero flicks just like when my father was young here, and Hulk was for adults...

Would it be nice if they make Kingdom Comes? (i know incredibles is practically the same, but...)

Holy crap, that's the actor!?

I thought that was some intern at the design shop that got to wear the costume for the photo.

Oh well, I didn't have very high hopes to begin with, so I'm not all that let down. But I am irritated, very irritated.

I can see Warners is going for commercial success ( and why shouldn't they) if they only wanted to cater to a select few of hardcore readers/followers they probably wouldn't make enough money to warrent spending the amount they are.... I have no doubt that this will be warner's biggest money maker of 06...... oh and other than the boy cut briefs and the neck line I like the new look and will pass judgement when I see a trailer for the movie....

Another thing to think about is that even by not catering to die hard fans, they will still see it, if for no other reason than to bash it.

Then they also get their larger market.

I have no doubt that people will flock to the theatre even if the suit sucks. Its superman! thats all you need for most people. Us comic geeks will always find something to complain about. And for the record the x-men movies weren't bad at all. X2 remains one of my faviourite comic book movies of all time.
