Politicians seek to regulate cable and satellite broadcasting...

Speaking of sqeaking wheels, are any of you guys members of the Association Of Independent Video and Filmmakers (AIVF)? One of their main points of focus is in Independent Media Rights Advocacy. I would like to see them get a lot stronger. Check em out at www.aivf.org . These guys are right, trusting in our "representitives" is the next best thing to rolling over and dying considering the massiveness of our population and the tendenty for the majority to only play a surface roll with little actual thought behind their movements. Prime example (which metaphorically can be applied to many other types of groups) being the church group petition againts the TV show....again, most had not even seen the show, they were just getting behind a rallying call.

Ya got partisan.

Reservoir--Your post was deleted because it was crude and vulgar and added nothing to the discourse. If you think removing a post about senior citizens and their bowel movements is censorship, you're mistaken. It was more of a favor to you, so please--no righteous indignation is necessary. These forums are moderated with a light hand and if people use a *little* self-moderation, we can keep it that way. Thanks.

Clearly...you are the right man for the job Barry, good work and thanks for letting the thread live!

Yeah....I agree....the moderation here is real *nice*. But it is true about the old farts in politics though......!! ~reservoir~

Politics is about seniority. Kind of like how you're a silver member and I'm platinum  , and no one's gonna catch Hudson.

Isaac....I'm not talking about these lame ass politics in this forum. If you would have seen my post before it was deleted.....I was referring to stuck-up old bastards in congress / senatorial politics always trying to squash what has taken 200+ years to build.....you know.....they still talk about it on TV every now and then. I believe it was once referred to as the Constitution...or something?!? I just think it's funny how every time this issue comes up about censorship it's always some Strom Thurmond - Bran eating - Metamucial drinking - Old battle axe who has nothing else better to do but to create new ways to dismantle our freedoms. I agree this is a sterotype, but if the shoe fits wear it!! Hell....the dood's picture was posted on all the articles. He fits the bill of *Grumpy OLD man* perfectly!! But hey....that was an opinon.....other's may think the same but I was the one who said it!! ~reservoir~

And if this post gets deleted or censored...god help. I'll keep posting it!!

I was talking about Congressional/Senate politics, which is seniority based. And you should probably let the issue go before it escalates. Let it go man.

It is only my guess, but if what you say is true about it always being some Strom Thurmond battle axe who spearheads this kind of assault on freedom of speech, it probably is a fairly normal outcome in the order of the world. These old battle axes of power are running scared in a world that’s gone to hell in their view. In days remembered they will lament the passing of days where it was safe to let you child walk to school, a world where reading a book after a quite trout catching afternoon was far better than galavanting around on a porn infested internet, a world where opera tickets in your pocket and a parentally sanctioned date with Mary loo were far more important than the output of the sub woofer in your trunk. If war came it would be because some maniac with a small mustache and an arm up at a forty five degree angled had blown a gasket and wanted the whole world for his own playground. The whole world and all that’s in it must look like the Devil incarnate to the elderly. I saw an old lady the other day, must have been 100 years old wobbling down the street with her rickety old walker, and I couldn’t help but wonder what she must be thinking about life today as opposed to the very early 1900’s.

I tend to agree. It is a brave new world. Hell....If I was an old battle axe myself, I'd probably feel the same way about this constant degeneration we live in. BUT....luckily I think I was born in times of more equality and taught that change is inevitable. You must adapt or you will be unhappy with yourself and everything around you. So I can understand what causes them to go on their crusades. I guess they are just trying to recapture the innocence of times past. But we don't live in Pleasantville anymore and no matter how much crusading, preaching, and the use of totalitarian methods......society can not and will not regress. The universe is ever expanding and growing. We are a reflection of that. I know that's deep stuff....but thats the way it is. So again, I understand the old battle axes wanting to hold on to their sacred way of life. In 50 years I'll be trying to hold on to my ways, although be it with more respect for the younger generations as I will already know what it feels like to be trespassed against. ~reservoir~

hahaha...

I'm laughing cause I'm 25, and I'm halfway to 50, and I've already lost my respect for the "young" generation. Especially their taste in music.

The trick is to live in the moment, forget the past and don't pay to much attention to the future....Witty eh? I'll be turning fifty in a few weeks and I still feel (some would say act) like I'm 19 mentally. I always embrace new stuff with open arms just because it IS new. I see so many people in my age group falling behind and have noticed that it's because they dwell in the past, the good old days it's a real shame when you're spending your evenings dragging out the old snap shots and remembering....Let it go, keep moving till the tracks fall of your tank:laugh:

I like a lot of the new music as well as a lot of the old. The thing I see about todays youth that disturbs me a little is that they're not as diverse in what they will listen to. When I was 17/18 I listened to all genres equally and had a special place for all the music. From classical to hard rock to you name it and today is no different. I pull up at red lights today with the windows down and eminem blasting away one day and on another I'm blasting Sara Briteman.

Mino,

Funny how you bring that up about the 100 year old lady. A couple of years ago my great-great-grandmother died at the age of 103. For the last 2 years of her life she was basically incapacitated. I often wondered at what she must've thought about the world today. There's just so much history that she has witnessed--it's absolutely fascinating. I really wish I had the chance to talk to her before she passed, but I still get a kick out of talking to my Dad and his parents.

I've been a fan of most music up until about 2000. What has happened to the music?!! Nah, j/k...I think that a couple of years from now I will digest the music and begin to at least put up with it. That's how it usually works for me; I don't like the *new* music at first, then over time, after it has become outdated, I drift toward it. As long as our government is hands-off with music and other PAID media, artists will be able to express themselves for the enjoyment of the masses.
