Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

I am very close on making my purchase of more DVX's for my business, but I will please ask anyone here if these model would be upgraded any time soon.

I would wait if a new model is coming out in less then three months, other wise I would just buy it now.

It's not much to ask for, if you have and idea as to when he next version or upgrade is coming out. I am not asking to be specific with a date, just an idea.

I have waited all this time, so I would wait alittle longer if I can.

Thanks.

If you can wait three months, why not wait three months? If you have a specific project you need this for...buy it when you need it.

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

PS. To directly answer your question: No one here knows when a new DVX would be coming out. Even if someone did, they would not tell you a date.

I would be very surprised if a new model came out in three months, but if you don't need it now, don't buy it now.

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

Wait until the NAB show to see if Panasonic will either debut a new DVX (I already know about the DVX100B but they need to really listen to what DVX users want) or at least make an announcement. 16:9, 16:9, 16:9, 16:9 + more resolution

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

16:9 + 1/2" CCD + Interchangeble Lens + 30p ( no 24p ) $6,000 for Body - $9,000 with a Respectable Lens ... 8)

Thas what I'm hoping for ... I *REALLY* need to see a solid upgrade for the DVC200 ...

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

Do you think the DVX100b will be out any time soon? I know I could wait till my next project which is in a few months, but I wanted to get it way before, to make sure it works fine. As you know with every Camera... You should not tested at the Wedding event or few days before, but long time before just in case.

Thanks

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

Native 16:9. That's all I'm asking. The HD can wait. There is no reason not to have real 16:9. Maybe have two DVX100's. One for people who want to show there stuff on 4:3 tvs and do alot of cropping or extra work with an adapter for widescreen. I don't want to do any of that to get 16:9.

I'll buy a DVX100 when it has real 16:9. I hope Panasonic at least makes some kind of an announcement or I'll probably buy something else in a few months.

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

That's All I care about an announcemt from Panasonic, even if the new version is not coming out for a while.

Thanks.

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

If I knew they had something coming out within a year’s time, I wouldn't even look at another camera. They would at least keep one consumers money from the competitor’s hands. ;D

That mockup spec wise sounds cool, at least 720 24p does. Although it seems too small and cheap looking. I think the DVX is a great size, maybe a little bigger for the materialistic folks and clients. I agree, a DVX upgrade with 16x9 would sell me in a second. I can wait for a while for HD (as I would need to spend serious cash on computer hardware).

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

The problem is, even when they announce a new model in April or May or so, it might not be on the shelves for a few months after that. So you are looking at maybe 6 months...

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

The most direct answer we can give you is: nothing has been announced. And since nothing has been announced, there's no way to know if something new will be coming out or not.

You cannot make any sort of prediction of a new model or its availability. With the DVX100, Panasonic announced it six months before it was available. With the DVX100A, Panasonic sprung it on us basically overnight -- no advance warning, no official announcement, just "surprise -- now there's a new model available immediately."

So they could spring a new one on us tomorrow for all we know. Or it could be a year. There simply is no way to know, and anyone who does know would be under a nondisclosure agreement, so if anyone tells you they *do* know, they're almost certainly lying.

So... I say wait as long as you can, and when you need it and cannot wait any longer, buy the best product that's available at the time that you need it.

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

Barry I hope they spring a new model on us soon. It's not like Panasonic doesn't know about 16:9 and HD. If they feel like they are losing sales they will come out with a new camera. With the XL2 and the Z1 out they will lose some sales. Why would they wait a year?

Guys . . .

Patience. Really. Thnigs will happen when they happen.

There will never be a time when it doesn't seem like the next new cam is just over the horizon.

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

David is right. A person could easily spend all his time and money keeping up with technology, and never really accomplishing anything with it.

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

Why would they wait a year?
Well, I don't think they'd necessarily *want* to wait a year, but R&D takes time. If they've been in development for a year, then maybe it's about time to launch the product. If, on the other hand, they're just now getting started doing their research and development, then obviously it'll take a while.

My bet is sooner rather than later. I think that their lining up FCP-HD and Avid Express HD is just too "coincidental", timing-wise. I think we'll see something announced at NAB, although when it actually comes out is anyone's guess.

And... here's the kicker... we have no idea what features a new camera may have or may lack! It may turn out that Panasonic DOES introduce a new camera, and ... it's not exactly what you want! So you may end up going with a DVX anyway.

There's no way to know, until the announcements have all been made. And there will always be new announcements coming.

Re: Is DVX going to be Upgraded any time soon?

Well not to get everyone all excited, but I heard that a $300 rebate is now available for the dvx100a
