Any NorCal users out there?

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

Are you interested in collaborating on a 1 hour documentary? I want to have it done by Sept. to submit it to PBS and a particular film festival. You mentioned volunteering somewhere in SF, I think. Are you in the Bay area or are you in Sacramento? I'm in Rocklin. I think I will wait until April to get a G5 and a DVX100A, unless something else of interest is released.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

P.s. I have to do all my creative work on evenings and weekends, as I work full-time for the state.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

The media center is in Berkeley that I volunteer at. I don't go there very often. Maybe once a week at most. I live right in the Foothill area of Sacramento.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

Anyways, I would love to work on a documentary with you. It would have to be during the evenings both during the week and the weekend. If you would like to meet this weekend to talk in person that might be possible.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

Hey! It's hard to arrange things when your mailbox is full and messages get bounced. Can you possibly open a new Yahoo email account or something?

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

It has been available for days now. My mother went against my wishes and used my business email to send me tons of large emails that took up enormous amounts of room. She is a little crazy. I talked to her and hopefully she never does that again.

Sorry again. Hope to hear from you soon.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

Hey, did you decide what to do about acquiring a camera? Are you going to wait until NAB? Do you have anything now? I myself might wait until NAB, but am looking to begin a project NOW.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

I am going to purchase the dvx100a next monday from Zotzdigital in oregon. I really do need a camera before the summer which is when any at all new camera would be available for consumer purchase. I am being use as a second camera person in a videographer business. Plus my boss/mentor will be helping me get my on business going as well. Also we will possibly be able to use it if we ever work together. If I have to I will make as much money with the dvx100a as possible and then sell it when I can afford to buy something better. Possibly that new Sony HDV camera or Canon XL2. I loved using the XL1 when I was at UC Santa Cruz. I almost went with the XL1s until I realized that it was just too outdated in its inner technology(only 270,000 pixel)

Hope to hear from you soon.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

That's a coincidence. I plan on ordering my DVX100A on Monday, as well. I was going to order it from Profeel.com. Is the place you are ordering it from cheaper? Is it legit? Do you think they would give us a deal if we ordered two cameras at the same time?

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

Profeel is a reputable dealer with a nice price, but it is not an authorized dealer or proline panasonic. I would rather pay the extra hundred or 2 to buy from a place where I know the warranty will be excepted by panasonic. I check with panasonic a while back to see if they were an authorized dealer and they said no. I think the best dealer including the accessories and closeness to us without tax is from Zotz digital. Check out there 4200 dollar package. Their price on accessories are quite low for almost all including tapes.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

Their price on the camera by itself is without package is 3444

If you already have all the accessories you need tripod, microphone, bag, and such then I would by from Willoughbys.
There price is 3342 including shipping from New York. they are a confirmed authorized dealer of the dvx100a

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

Hi Christie,

I ordered my DVX100A today from Willoughbys.com. They haven't confirmed the order yet.

If you are going to get one as well, that would be great, because the main project I have written includes a shot that needs to be recorded with two cameras running simultaneously, and we could get the footage to match up almost perfectly.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

It Was Ordered, but they have to get the camera from EVS first and then ship it to me. Thus it will take about 5 or 6 days to get it. I paid 4220 including shipping for camera, tripod, audio-technica AT987 microphone, Kata CC103 bag, filter, 10 tapes, extra battery, and headphones. the accessories were all in stock so should arrive soon. Now we just need to organized our schedules. By the way you haven't told me what this documentary is going to be about. Hope to hear from you soon.

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

Sauling---I'm confused. Are you the same person I was talking to before? The one with a BA in Film from UCSC?

Re: Any NorCal users out there?

Welcome, Ronin. Jared (one 'r') from over in Fairfield. I started this thread to see if there was anyone around where I live and it was taken over by Sacramentoins. 8-)

Let me know if you want to get together and collaborate so I can pretend I know what I'm doing while I secretly learn from someone with experience. I've just started my own event videography business, but am looking into filming short dramas for my church. Would love to feed off of any input you can give.

Adios,
Chico (aka Jared)
