last week i was out a a park with the dvx on the glidecam. i was getting some stock footage of tennis courts- basketball hoops- playground equip...ect. so anyway right i got there this couple passed me by when i was near the tennis courts.. they just stared at me as they walked by. i gave the usual quick glance that lets me know if all is well with the approaching pedestrians ,they looked like your average betty crocker rockers from good ol Wisconsin(rock on betty...rock on...) so i quickly went back to work. the couple then walked over to their van which was parked about 30 yds from there, and for about 1/2 hour they sat in the van watching me perform my varios glidecam maneuvers through that portion of the park. .. i was dressed nicley in business casual attire, and my hair was nicely groomed. i couldnt figure out what i could possibly be doing that was so interesting. did i smell ??? was i sweating??? my socksmatch so whats up with the looking at me people!?? so then i wanted to get some shots of the swarms of geese flying overhead, so i pulled out the tripod, and set up shop in a clearing about 40 feet or so in front of the thier van(and my car..you know.. the silver lamborghini diablo roadster) and after shooting about the 3rd or so flock of geese flying overhead. the woman rolls down her window and yells "hey!!!...hey!!!...." and naturally i ignore her as im keeping the geese in frame above me while maneuvering around the tripod. she continues to bark like a little schnauser "hey ...ha....haaaa.. HEY.. " and finally "hey you!!..." so reluctantly i turned and just lokked at her being sure to present a look of that said"this better be pretty darn important.. cant you see im working here" so she asks me by shouting with her head out the window.."what are you taking pictures of !!?" i stood there for a second looking off into nothingness and shaking my head slowly to try and shirk the idea that it would be ok to stick my foot in her mouth at this time... then i responded. "the sky.." she called back" the sky!!??...ok .. cause weve been watching you for a while and we were beginning to wonder excactly what you were doing..yeah.. cause we were watching you".. i glanced up at a flock of geese overheaad which would have been the perfect moment i was currently missing , and then back at the lady , and i could only muster nodding my head in the sort of fashion that says "well alright then..i dont want to talk to you anymore, so im nodding my head like this.. ok" , and then went back to see if i could catch a moment of the geese yet..nope long gone. so i was frustrated, and just decided to call it a day and come back another time if need be. so i got in my car, and when i was backing out, i managed to back into a sand pile right behind me that had been piled up by a construction crew when i was there..it was lower than my bumper , and not as wide as my veh so i couldnt see it when i was looking, so anyway i drove all the way home and when i got out i checked to make sure i dint hurt the exhaust or anything, and saw my liscense plate was torn off.. so back to the sand park i drove as quick as i could, and the same van was there.. so i pulled in and pretneded like i was gathering some on site sound by quickly plugging my shotgun mike into my wireless lave unit, and standing around a couple other places before slinking over to the sandpile and quickly grabbing the plate and putting it in my car. so anyway..
today i was thinking about it this and quietly said to myself.
"man..i guess its funny now.."

Funny Story Loser,
Hey what version of the glidecam do you own?

Re: man.. i guess  its funny now..

2000..works great the 4000 is a bit overkill, but not really if you have a bunch of accesories on the cam when on the glidecam, but it would be really heavy at that point to hold for any length of time, and youd probably want the vest- which is costly ..
i have been designing my own little vest for the 2000 though.. its coming along swell..and very cheap..but pro looking and works great!!

Yeah great.
I have a V8 that has been waiting in storage until I get my camera. Hopefully it will work out well?

Re: man.. i guess  its funny now..

no no no .. th v8 will not work at all .. it has a glitch in its flex capacitor and will not reach 88 m.p.h. !! :)

id like to get one like that after this features done.. unforunately the dough has been flying out of my pockets at other stuff as of late, but definitley nice little setup for the dvx!

No Loser,
I have this patheticlly decadent life where i kind of retired at the age of 43 and decided to get out of visual effects and get back on camera....and take my time doing it.

So I picked up a V8 and decided to research like hell the best camera for me to push towards film(mainly to piss off all my old DP and operator friends that are too used to the craft service table and honey wagon).

So, well see how it goes, once i get stable I send a link to some glide footage and my attempts at the DVX settingsland.

Later
