Letus35 Extreme vs. Cinemek G35 all set to buy just not sure which!

"i've been looking for night shots as well, without the assistance of personal lighting setups. Just to get an idea."

nantnee,

I'll have night exteriors included when I post about my G35. probably net week.

Great! Are you going to be shooting without any extra lighting. The reason I ask is because I do not have a lighting kit. I know I should, but, one step at a time. Just curious as to how it looks without additional lighting, etc.

Excited to read the review.

I'm working towards lighting also, for now we'll continue to rent when needed. so no, no lighting.

I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. but I know people have been wondering.

a couple people have been asking in a few threads why so much adapter footage is outdoors in the daylight, well, even the ones that have the least light loss, all look better
when there is an abundance of light.

it really is starting to look like close to the same amount of lights are needed for all of the
adapters, unless of course you are working with the absolute minimum of what you can get away with.

When you say r 120 shutter speed do you really mean shutter speed as in 1/120 or do you mean a 120° shutter (angle)?
Between the brevis and letus I prefer the letus extreme. Sharper and seems to have better low light performance too.

I mean 1/120 shutter speed. This is probably a limit for most "affordable" vibrating adapters. (Which obviously excludes the 4000$ plus Letus Ultimate)

I can tell you right now that nothing beats the Letus elite in terms of edge to edge sharpness and lack of chromatic abberation. Both of these adapters will give you problems passed F5.6, and the LEX will lose less light, but at the tradeoff of a less cinematic bokeh rendition.

The Ultimate is also supposed to be limited to 1/125 for what I have read. I wonder if the G35 is even less since it's static.

Aren't the Extreme and the Elite the same optically? How can the Elite have a better edge to edge sharpness?

What is the max shutter speed you can do with them?

I don't think that the higher shutter speeds are problematic with the G35 exactly because it's static. It's more a case of f-Stop (anything beyond approx. 5.6), which is certainly also a problem for vibrating adapters.

Letus only produces one optimized achromat for both the EX1 and the HVX. The only difference is the step ring. Yes, shutter limit is still 1/120.

You said the difference between the Extreme and the Elite was an optimazed achromat here:
The Elite has an optimized achromat. Same shutter and f-stop limitation.

I was asking if this optimized achromat you were talking about for the Elite is the EX1/HVX kit or is something else? Because if its the EX1/HVX kit this is also available for the Extreme right? So there's no real difference between the Extreme and Elite optiocally. I think the only difference is the collimation ring, which you can also buy as an accessory if you have an Extreme.

the G35 has no limitations with shutter speed, as long as you have enough light, all the way through to 1/1000th, zero problem.

Well, yes, the optimized achromat for the Elite is the EX1/HVX upgrade. But I'm not sure it makes sense to say that the Extreme and the Elite are the "same" because you can upgrade the Extreme to the Elite. It's a different achromat between the two which produces a different image.

How is it a different achromat between the two if you have an Extreme with a HVX or EX1 camera if the achromat is the same in this case? I think you are making things confusing. The Elite is an Extreme with the HVX/EX1 achromat upgrade, so an Extreme with an HVX/EX1 achromat upgrade IS an Elite (optically). What doesn't make sense here?

By the way, this whole thing started when Papa said this:

Because the Letus Extreme on a HVX200 or EX1 should also produces the same results unless the Elite had some different part in the optical path, which is why I asked if it did and as it turns out it does not.

What you're missing is that an Extreme doesn't HAVE to have the optimized achromat. A large number doesn't (because it's offered as an add-on) and so when you say that the Extreme is the same as the Elite, that can be misleading. For over a year I've been using the Extreme with the regular achromat, and have since upgraded to the new one. It's still not an Elite, so you have to qualify that by saying Optimized Extreme or Extreme with Optimized Achromat so there's no confusion.

Fair enough. All I was saying is that OPTICALLY, if you have an Extreme with a HVX/EX1 achromat you have an Elite optically speaking and the image quality should be the same with the Elite behaving no better. If you add the also optional collimation ring, you have a full Elite for all effects.
