Screen Credits in Corp Video

For years I have seen production companies list 'credits' after a corporate video. We never did this practice- IMO, who really cares who did audio on a 5 minute corporate peice? Plus the client is paying full rate for our services, end the video with copyright and fade to black.

We just finished a $15K video for a well know charity that we agreed at the start would bill no more than $5K, due to their budget. Im OK with that, accepting this as charity work, helping kids who need treatment raise funding. I talked to all the freelancers who worked on the project to reduce rate FOR THIS PROJECT ONLY, BEFORE any work began. All were happy to do it, again, to help kids who need it. The $5K covers the production costs, no real profit.

I argued with one of my freelancers, who said that an end slide after the project with a graphic that said, "Produced by XYZ Co" with a website would not be out of line. As mentioned, I am giving them $10K of free work. I was planning on putting our logo/website on the dvd face label only.... I ask the community what do you think would be appropriate?

I dont think it would be out of line at all, then again I wouldn't really care one way or the other whether I was credited at the end. I've seen it go both ways. I usually dont put anything but a copyright and the client's logo if appropriate. I've also edited for non-prof projects that ended up with a huge list of scrolling credits as a way to thank everyone involved. I'd ask the client if they would be ok with it. If they arent 100% cool with it I wouldn't do it. My guess is that they won't care and if thats the case, just scroll some quick credits and make everyone happy.

The only reason I would put a 'produced by' is that their Board is a "who's who" and they plan on taking it to 'lunch & learns'-- rotary club, chamber of commerce, lions club, etc. If I could get some promotion out of the deal, and show some of our work.....

Im anxious to see what others will say.

Shoot if you took a hit on the budget like that and its going to events like that then I'd definitely put up a short credits list. Of course spend a little extra time on your name :)

Yeah I put full credits on a training video, it's appropriate, but I didn't put any credits on the corporate work, the virtual tours and interviews and stuff like that, not even a company name or logo. It's their work so I just figure they're paying me enough not to attach that kinda stuff.
