No mixer. XLR directing into the DVX?

Does anyone know how it would sound to bring an XLR directly into the camera with no mixer. I know the camera itself has the ability to adjust audio levels.
 
Perfectly fine, just keep track of your line/mic levels depending on what you are feeding it. The DVX has a very good audio system for what it is, and I have run almost anything you can think of into it and have always gotten great audio back out.
