Does vegas have a luma check for color correction like FCP does?

It would be cool, but no, there isn't one. You can use the waveform monitor, though.

I don't know anything about this waveform monitor (but would love to know where's it's found), but the Secondary CC plug in has a "Show Mask" option that works exactly like the FCP luma check, if I'm not mistaken...

to enable the waveform and other scopes click view -> video scopes.

go to view(on top next to file and edit) then look for video scopes
