Need strong wind machine for music video. Suggestions?

I'm shooting a music video soon that has a lot of actors made up to look like statues covered in dust. During the video a strong gust of wind comes in and blows the dust off them.

Anybody know a specific model that would be strong enough to accomplish this task?
 
Go to home depot or another such place and get a large commercial fan.

You should be able to rent it there.

Also, your local fire department might have one they will let you use.
 
The wind machine will have to "spool up" to full strength and that might be OK if it's a gradual buildup of wind.

But if you're looking for a sudden gust, you may need to resort to compressed air. I recall seeing gadgets like that in a video about Hollywood special effects. Looked like a cone-shaped nozzle attached to a compressed air hose.

Or: a 300-pound can of Dust-Off? :-)
 
Leaf blower is going to give you a stronger faster gust. I'd say bring 2 blowers and set them off at once for the effect.
 
Yeah, leaf blower was what I was figuring. I might get one or two of those for close ups and one or two high velocity fans for the wides and just feed flower from behind the fan through it to fake it.
