how much you think i can sell this edit ?

That video was REALLY good. Did you shoot and edit it or just edit?

I have no idea what you could charge for your services but that was a great sample of your work.

Good luck!

As an outsider to what the costs are I'd guess somewhere betwen 3 and 5K for a wedding shoot like yours would be low end. 10K for a funeral if you know what I mean. You certainly seem worth it. Throw in some DVD's ofcourse. I'd say 3-10K ball park for 1/2 to 1 minute final product with dvd's would be more than reasonable. (Dinners cost 5K don't they?) More depending on the client and what they want ofcourse.

What kind of real competition do you have? You seem more dedicated than most. By comparison...

...here's a video company, the only one, in my home town, pop 40K.
Ummm, they don't feel I'm good enough to talk to. That's my home town. :)
And they call themselves a business. I'm ... or whatever that term is, haha.
wow.

Raptor...not trying to be a ball buster but I can't understand half of what you are saying. "10K for a funeral if you know what I mean." I'm thinking you are making a metaphor that getting married is like being in a funeral. "3-10K ball park for 1/2 to 1 minute final product"...I'm guessing you are saying 1/2 hour to 1 hour? And how do dinners cost 5K? Again, I'm not ballbusting. I'm just trying to understand....

When you said , "here's a video company, the only one, in my home town, pop 40K." what does that mean? pop 40k?

" I'm ... or whatever that term is, haha.
wow." lol. Either you've had too much to drink or I have but I have no idea what the hell you are talking about. :)

Personally, I think that was a great edit. I have no idea what you should ask for...I've seen a lot of good work all OVER the financial range...1-2K to 5-6K. I can't really speak on that. Sometimes, its not just about what your work is worth....its about what the market will pay you.

RE: Rick and later Daniel.

I was drinking but that's English to us around here so I'll try again.

I'm saying when you do a video for a wedding you are providing a service.

Ideally people have only one wedding in a lifetime. That's why it's important to them. That's why they spend 5K on a ring? Right?

That's why catering can cost 5K. A typical bar band would charge 2K to play 1 night. A photographer would charge what for a wedding?

I'm saying, people are willing to pay top dollar to professionally document a one time event like this, that can't be done over again, and have it done properly and professionally the first time.

Judging by your work, like I said, I'd charge 3K at least for maybe a minute of video, and that's being generous and on the low end.

I was comparing funeral costs also because it's a one time event that's important and you pay accordingly to have it done right.

The client is paying for a reliable expert to cover the event. That's what they pay for. There are no retakes. That's why it's more. And your samples imo deserve a decent dollar. So, 3K min to 10K is my guess would fit into a typical wedding budget.

As I said, as maybe a client, I'd certainly give you 3K for a 1 minute doc of the wedding of the calibur you did in the sample.

The after wedding stuff in my experience, everyone goes to a park, the photographer lines everyone up and takes several shots.
And everyone sais they were bored stiff and falling asleep during the whole thing.

I hope I'm not too drunk to understand, again  I likes my beer.

3K for 1 min of the wedding, more for after wedding shots and more for maybe the reception party which comes to around 10K.
Anyways, something like that. Why, what were you thinking. More, Less?

//Oh, by 'Pop 40K' I mean the population in my home town is 40,000 people. And a pretty arrogant bunch here in the ol town of Belleville Ontario Canada. Mainly too many 'big frogs in a small pond' syndrome.
