Battery adapter Manhattan Lcd + HXV

From what I understand, most of those LCD's run on 12 volts, so you're pretty well out of luck. I'd get a separate battery if I were you.

You can also try finding a converter of some sort to turn the 7.2 volts on the battery to 12, but I'm unsure where to look...you'd have better luck investing in some 12V battery solutions and finding something to convert the 12 into the ~7.9 that the DC input of the HVX requires.

We are in the process of developing a small footprint converter ( a little bigger than the HVX battery) to generate 12V. It will power a monitor for about 3 hours using a 5600mah battery. Cost ~ $90-$100

When should it be available? I would need it by mid of May.

How about those 12v belt pack lead acid battery packs that power video lights? Would that work?

I don't see anything horribly wrong with a battery belt, and in fact if I were to go pure handheld I'd probably do just this....HVX off it's own bats, and my tekkeon powering the LCD from somewhere on my body.

I'm not sure if I'd want to use panny bats to power the camera and LCD...unless I had ALOT of those suckers laying around. Personally I have 3 5400MaH panny bats for my HVX, and this is enough to power for a LONG day of shooting, and I havn't once had to depend on charging my bats during production in order to continue shooting. If I were to power any external accesories off those bats though, I'd have a power problem for sure.

there's two options here...a converter + more HVX bats, or another power source for the accesories.

I'd choose another power source....and the wonder of an external power source is the ability to purchase a "normal" voltage(or an adjustable voltage like the tekkeon) like 12v, for which DC-DC voltage adapters abound.

I also have one of the Tekkeon adjustable voltage batteries which are nice but the thought of using the incorrect voltage every time you turn it on, scares the smack out of me.

It is a little weird, but it does default to the lowest voltage, so the chances of frying anything are insanely slim.

Personally I have a note attached to the tekkeon that reminds me to set the voltage.

hahaha, that is funny because I too put a label on mine also to remind me..Trouble with labels is that after awhile, I become so accustomed to seeing them that I don't notice them any longer.. Last week I counted the batteries in my video and still cameras and devices that I need to charge. The number approached 30!

nebtek makes a 7.2-12 volt adapter so that you can run monitors with camera batteries:

i haven't tested it yet as i'm still awaiting delivery on my monitor.

if anyone's interested, i've just received my monitor, and i can confirm that, with the nebtek adapter i linked to above, i have no problem powering the monitor from an HVX battery. the adapter is pretty nice--it's pretty small and unobtrusive, and it has a battery life indicator. i just velcroed it to the back of the monitor, and it looks like it's going to work really well.

adolgin, it's got three small LEDs which light up to tell you how much battery life is left. they light up only when you press the "battery check" button. it also has a separate LED that stays lit all the time as long as the battery is providing power.

Any news? Are you still on track?

Funny you asked, as we are going to have the first few built in the next few days. But we are not going to ship internationally yet, before testing here in US is completed. Anybody wants to be a BETA tester?
