Super 8 mm film questions

I had some questions on Super 8 mm film. How do you go about putting that on a computer. I have had an increasing interest in working with it but really have no clue where to start. Any suggestions on material and equipment would be nice. I wasn't sure where to put this forum wise but I figured since i wanted to know how to upload this type of footage. Thanks!

The low budget way is to simply shoot the projected picture. Super 8 is I believe
18fps, so you either need a variable speed projector or a variable frame rate camera like the HVX. And of course if you can afford it, have it professionally transferred.

I'm going by the fps of the many reels I shot in the late 70's-early 80's.
Paid a couple of bucks for the film, then had it developed at the corner drugstore for a few more. Still almost impossible to get those vibrant colors on video. Those were the days!

Many labs can do a telecine to put it onto dv or your format of choice. The downside is that it is expensive. The alternative is to get a projector and video tape it projecting. The downside to that is that you lose quality.

As far as I am aware, those are your only choices. It is kind of saddening sometimes.
