I can only afford 600 dollar deposits...so i can get something like a Arri 150 and an Arri 350, or two 150s. Or I could get maybe the Lowell light kit...? I don't know what to do. Too bad my credit card limit is too low ; ;

The Arris are a good light, but 1x150 and 1x350 isnt a lot of light, 2x150 not much at all.

Depends what you are shooting but Id be inclined to go with the lowell if its the same deal just to get more wattage.

Try Brian at wooden nickel. He's a nice guy and has been working with low budget indies and students for years. I'm sure if you talk with him he could work something out.

I'd try and get 2 650 fresnells and 1 1k open faced light.

Wow, the nice camera man gave me a deal on a 1000w and a 500w tungsten with softboxes which is what i was looking for. Anyone ever heard of/used starlight lights before? Anything that I should know?

I own a few, they don't have much throw (such is the nature or a softbox). You can always remove the face and use it as a large hard source if you need more light.

Where did you end up going, if you don't mind me asking? We're in the same area and I'm going to be needing lights in the next few weeks for part 3 of my webisode series.

I'd also be interested to see what you're up to. PM me if you want to talk projects.

I went to Samy's Camera down in Santa Ana...nice place, they got a ton of grip and lighting stuff. Pretty fairly priced considering the prices I see at other places. They are more of a still camera place, however, so not TOO much stuff available when it comes to video, but they have the basics.
