DVD vs Digibeta for Cannes submission? And other questions for submission.

I will be submitting to Cannes within the next couple of weeks, this is only for submission not the final print, if selected I will then submit a D5 of my 1080p feature film.

What does everyone recommend, you have the option of

VHS
DVD
Digibeta

Will the people viewing these for submission throw out all the VHS, consider the DVDS, and highly consider the Digibetas, well because there is a hierarchy of profesionalism at all levels,

low - vhs
med - dvd
high - digibeta

Also it says they only take these 3 formats, does anyone know if they take Blu-ray as well?

Also does anyone know if the trt includes the credits as well?

Here is the online application.

TRT does include the credits.

I don't think it will matter that much that you submit on DVD rather than Digi-Beta (no VHS though) as it will be easier for screeners to view it on DVD rather than Digi-Beta. Of course, be sure you send a correct format DVD and obviously note on the application that you will have the format they require to screen should they choose your film.

That's just my take. I've never submitted to Cannes though.

Good luck.

let me know if you hit upon a good solution for that downconversion--i've been using Compressor on the Mac, but I'm not entirely satisfied with it.

i was experimenting with downconversion a looong time. The best solution i came up with,
was export movie to uncompressed avi and then encode mpeg with cinema craft encoder
with specific settings. I didn't dial it in perfectly so that all jaggies would dissappear, at
least they are not so eye catching as if simply downconverting.... and CCE quality is amazing,
it can do a lot of passes, i usually encode 5 passes.
