Can Miller DS5 or DS10 be mounted on non-bowl tripod legs?

Hi,

I am just wondering if the Miller DS5 (or DS10) fluid head can be mounted on my Manfrotto 754 tripod legs which had a built-in leveler and a 1/4" screw (I think) and no 75mm bowl?

I can't get a straight answer from Miller who keep telling me that I should buy their solo legs.

Thanks in advance.

Why not get Miller's Solo DV legs? Or any legs with a ball head for that matter?

The Manfrotto system looks okay. But I've heard it can be odd to use. I'd go the traditional route with a traditional tripod like we've all be using for years! :)

:)

Because I have the Manfrotto carbon fibre legs (which I love) and it has a centre column which gives me very quick and easy height adjustment if/when needed. Miller will only sell the Solo carbon fibre legs separately to the DS5 and at a huge expense.

So does anyone know if the DS5 75mm ball can be removed and the head used directly on a 1.4" thread?
